Who is John Harrison?

John Harrison is Sauron reborn. Seriously, look at the evidence. Both characters are played by Benedict Cumberbatch. We are looking at the first Middle-Earth Star Trek crossover, with endless sequels where the movie studios can even make more money off the fans than ever before.

Seriously though, I just hope the movie exceeds all the expectations and the villain is not a cookie-cutter "I must have my revenge and destroy everything" type of guy. That would be both cliche and boring.

A young James T. Kirk whizzes past a boy on the side of the road in a stolen antique cherry red Corvette convertable.

"Hey, Johnny!"

Oh yes, John Harrison will get his revenge for not getting a ride that day. You can be sure of that...

Or maybe this is appropriate for now...

If you were going to pick a pseudonym that didn't stand out in any way what would you pick..

Khan

Soran

Nero

John Harrison

It's a pseudonym. All along JJ's been laughing at how he will give us just what everyone else in the STID story has as the movie opens, the name John Harrison. And by the end of the movie we and the characters in it will finally know who he really is.

I'll be boycotting the internet the day this comes out until I've seen it.

Isn't it obvious. It's JACOB. He found a way off the island and he's PO'd at JJ Abrams. Hey isn't that a polar bear in one of the screen caps.

John Harrison sounds like an auto accident attorney whose firm puts those 1-800 "I Can Help" commercials on your local channels during Jerry Springer.

"Injured by starships falling from the sky? Ever been hurt by an unidentified man seeking vengeance? Call the John Harrison Law Firm immediately....we'll get results you can count on!

So....shall we begin?"

Nah. You're thinking of his brother Saul Harrison. Works out of Albuquerque. "Better call Saul"

I like movie critic Drew McWeeny's theory, which you can read here: http://www.hitfix.com/motion-captur...us-a-better-look-at-star-trek-into-darkness/3

He's probably not right, but I think it's an interesting theory, and one I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else (of course there are a lot of posts and articles here and elsewhere on the internet that I haven't read).
I've read the part which Dennis quoted in the thread about McWeeny's theory, but I won't click on a link to HitFix anymore - something at that site disagrees violently with my browser or computer.

People have misheard the name....its not John Harrison.....Its George Harrison, and he has been reincarnated, and he is very unhappy with the way the world turned out, you could say he is no longer on cloud 9.........but this time, no more mr nice guy.:p

He's got his mind set on Earth.

And it's gonna take detonations. A whole lotta big detonations.

I wonder if the REAL villains are these Klingons... perhaps they attacked Earth first, and "Harrison" is a secret but illegal weapon unleashed to bring hell upon them, not in the name of the Federation, but Earth itself, making him a nationalist conundrum: Do you trust Starfleet to save us, or does the private sector do it themselves? (and make a bit of coin to boot). Perhaps the character that Peter Weller plays is the Peter Weyland of Trek who keeps the banned Khan inspired eugenics project going secretly. Harrison, (a Starfleet officer?) is recruited bent on his own personal blood lust (maybe earlier dealings with the murderous Kilingons) make him the ultimate volunteer for this "super solider" program. He takes them on as a one man eugenic army to destroy the Klingon threat in a way Starfleet can't ... But Kirk and Starfleet gets in the middle, holding the thin, prime directed, line faithful to what the Federation stands for. And making Harrison a morally ambiguous character as the human future of alien warfare in an increasingly deadlier galaxy that Starfleet may not be ready for. Especially after the events of Trek09 and the destruction of half the fleet and all of Vulcan.
