1) Pike was the one who hailed Discovery in the first place, and
2) No Class J cadet training ship anywhere about.

Bald blue KIingons are a make up change. Changing the date of Pike's accident is a story continuity change.

But matters are complicated when some familiar faces arrive from beyond the Klingon border, and perhaps further still. Burnham will have to face tough choices and tougher dining. Followed by ‘Guess who’s coming to dinner’ the following week. Episodes 4 and 5 of DSC series 2, coming soon....

Interesting that last year one of the crazy fan theories was that Lorca is Garth, which didn't happen. But now Garth is listed as possible new Captain for Discovery.

Had a thought. What if the new Captain is a Vulcan, but one that's not overly impressed with Michael? So far she's had COs who were in her corner. Perhaps someone like Solok from DS9.

I don't think it'll be prime Lorca, but even if it was, would the prime universe Lorca be the hard edged character he was the first season? We actually haven't met the prime universe Lorca yet, so we have no idea what kind of character he'd be. If it's any of the crew left from season one, then I'm not interested because none of the rest of Discovery's crew interests me. So hopefully, for me at least, it'll be someone brand new or someone from Star Trek lore. It can't be Pike unless we want about a billion threads on the canon violation that'd be. LOL

Thought the Captain already got chosen though - Gabriel Lorca, must be some sort of upgrade or switch that did not see yet.
