Beckinsale and the director presented scenes from the film at Comic-Con last year. It was supposed to be released by now; latest word is that this film comes out in April 2009. What the hell is going on with the movie?

It was previously scheduled for a September 2008 release, but has now been pushed back to April 24th 2009. Given that September is the worst box office month of the year and that it's especially a dumping ground for action films, I'm glad to see the move to an April release date, even though it means a longer wait to see it.
It's a really good comic book. I hope the movie does it justice, although they've made some significant changes - including casting a lead actress as beautiful and glamorous as Kate Beckinsale.

I wonder if Whiteout got poor marks after test-screening. This is what happened to Killshot, starring Diane Lane, Mickey Rourke and Thomas Jane. Killshot was filmed in 2005. Test audiences were confused by it. The film was reportedly re-edited and got new release dates which came and went. It will now go straight to DVD.
