Which was the better duel, Dumbledore v. Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix or Yoda v. Palpatine in Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith? Both, IMO, are great duels, well staged and executed with great FX. Despite knowing the outcome, each had good tension. For me, I choose Dumbledore v. Voldemort.

The Dumbledore/Voldemort duel was pretty nice but no contest, the Yoda/Sidious fight was much better (and that's with me not liking Yoda's fight with Dooku, somehow with Sidious it felt a heck of lot more natural and effective). Yoda and Sidious and their tactics were so much more entertaining that it didn't matter that, as it did to a significant extent with OotP, you knew what the outcome would be.

The fight between the women in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon by a mile. Unlike the battles you've picked here, I genuinely had no clue where this fight was headed and who would come out on top.

Need to think about that..... Both looked awesome, but I felt the HP duel had some shoddy editing at points, and the SW duel was a bit to silly at times.

Of the two, Yoda and Palpatine (have a soft spot for Yoda). Best duel I've seen on screen, though, is in Rob Roy. There may be flashier sword fights in other films, but no more realistic a duel has been put to screen, IMO.

Rob Roy had some amazing swordplay in it, and quite acurate as well. Another favorite of mine is The Duelists, by Ridley Scott. His first big movie, and it's amazing!!

I guess the Harry Potter one since there was some emotional connection to Dumbledore. The prequels made me feel nothing, like I was dead inside.

I liked the rather more protracted struggle between the Fourth Doctor and Chancellor Goth in The Deadly Assassin.
Baker didn't like it for the violence--but it was well done.

Poor Tom must have never heard of Reservoir Dogs

I might get some heat for this (pun 100% intended) because its a kids' show, but I loved the final Agni Kai in Avatar.
