Henry Blake's death affected me deeply because I was so young when I first saw it on tv and had never even thought of death or what it means before that episode.
The other one for me was Joyce Summers from Buffy. It was such a powerful episode. Very raw and real.

I didn't care for the film as a whole, but the character's death really shook me. And a large part of it was in what it represented. It not only marked an end to an era, but it was also totally pointless.

"Two Cathedrals" is one of the greatest television episodes ever.
In the second season premiere of L&O they killed off Max Greevey, but since the actor didn't want to return to do that one scene, they did it in an interesting way: all you could see was Max working on his car (from the POV of his wife who was inside the house) and barely see the guy come up and shoot him. The whole scene is basically told by Max's wife and Mike Logan who was talking to her on the phone. You hear his wife go "Oh #%#*!" and then it cuts to Mike, who yells into the phone "MARIE!!!!!!!"

I'm just now getting around to watching The West Wing and though, I knew Mrs. Landingham died, I thought it was later on in the show. "Two Cathedrals" took me by surprise.
"Sleeping in Light" always has me tear up.
Dinobot's death in Beast Wars was really well done. He went out like a badass, got one last quip at Rattrap, and a Hamlet quote to boot!

Just to be clear for those who don't know, Mrs. Landingham dies in the episode called "18th and Potomac". "Two Cathedrals" is the immediately following episode with the flashbacks and season two finale.
Damn, you're right. Though to be fair, her death, if I remember from watching it a few months ago, was revealed in the last few minutes of "18th and Potomac," with the impact of it being revealed over the course of "Two Cathedrals," as President Bartlett tries to come to terms with it.
I'd submit, though, that, as sad as it was to hear she died in "18th and Potomac," it was just shocking. "Two Cathedrals" really made it moving.

Yeah. That's the way it went down.
Ugh. I loved the Tenth Doctor. But by that point in the episode he'd done so much arm-folding, and leaning, and watching, and sighing, and goodbye-ing that I was like, "Just die already."
