He's explicitly a prodigy. And, he's four years older than his prime counterpart, establishing a potential pattern of Uhura being perhaps older than her prime counterpart (not that either Uhura was ever canonically established in age, unlike both Chekovs).

Ok, that may not make a good TV series, you need things like conflict and drama for those.

Is the Federation that idyllic though? We've seen hints before in TNG and DS9 that not everyone is happy with how life in the federation is. Maybe there is a lot more under the surface. Lets face it, living in the federation would be fairly nerve wracking as there seems to be threats of alien invasion every other week.

Another idea for a series would be a federation political drama, though more serious Thick of It style (e.g. Byw Celwydd) than West Wing.

Plus i'd like to see Alpha Centauri, a founder member of the federation but AFAIK never shown?

According to the Star Trek Chronology and StarTrek.com, Uhura was born in 2239. I don't seriously think that Kelvin Timeline Uhura was intended to be that young, but there isn't conflicting evidence.

Kelvin universe Uhura is the same age as Kirk
