Probably Earth. I am not much for vacations and on the Shore Leave planet I'd probably get killed by my own thoughts.

One thing that always bugged me about Trek was its over-the-top presentation of how bad every other major races planets were compared to Earth. Earth was a sunny paradise where everyone lived in bliss. Ferenginar is a swamp whee it constantly rains. Romulus is an overcrowded ghetto where everybody lives in fear. Qo'noS for some reason has fog everywhere you go. Even indoors. And you ever notice whenever they did exterior shots on the planets it was always at night? Guess the sun never shines on non-Federation worlds.

But Cardassia was beautiful (that is until it got destroyed by the Dominion). Granted, they made it look ugly from space, but the matte painting of the capital city was beautiful.

Never fear. Nobody really dies on the Shore Leave planet. The caretakers have the power to resurrect you, like they did with McCoy.

In short, nothing can possibly go wrong . . . go wrong . . . go wrong . . .

From some other species' viewpoint, Earth might look like crap. On the other hand, it's stupid that most planets seemed to have one climate. On Ferenginar, it rains! On Andor, it's frozen (and that doesn't even make sense)!

What bothered me the most was this one time when Dax was criticizing Earth from orbit and talking utter garbage about preferring purple oceans. This bothers me, since the only process I know of which makes water purple is infestation by an ungodly, maybe actually impossible amount of sulfur bacteria, whose waste products would probably kill you dead within a few dozen miles of any beach.

But maybe they're pretty from space, sure.

I liked their weird, inefficient curved buildings. I mean, they're cool-looking, but who pays for urban real estate just to put the flourish of a tail on their skyscraper? :p

Maybe the Memory Alpha planetoid in its prime, where you can access all the knowledge the Federation has accumulated; or maybe instead, Talos, where you can be and experience whatever you can imagine for as long as you want (pleasure planets must enforce time limits).

Just be careful what you think about!
Heh! That planet would be crawling with McCoys! :D
In my case, it would be swarming with clones of Angie Dickinson, Jacqueline Bisset, Diana Rigg and Catherine Deneuve, all in their prime.
I'd probably have a Lucy Liu or two wandering around, I suppose.

Or...maybe I could just visit during the same time as Kirsten, and ask the Caretaker to make me look like McCoy! Nah, they've probably got rules against that kind of subterfuge. :D

Earth! I'd love to see a late 24th century DC and New England.

What about some kind of plant life, something more like coral, or plankton, just with a different "pigment" than chlorophyll?

Someone who appreciates beauty.

Why pay to make things like the Empire State Building or the Chrysler Building so beautiful?

(I use those examples because I think Cardassian architecture is a sort of dark/industrial Deco.)

I don't know. I still think that whole thing maybe kind of creepy. I mean when they make a replica of a person from your mind what exactly is it? A robot? A lifeform? And what do they do when you leave the planet? "Hey Ruth it has been a lot of fun banging you and re-living old memories at all, but I have to go back to my starship and you, I guess they chuck you into the dumpster".

Trill. They haven't been a federation planet for long enough to get the fun sucked out of it, but they are still in it. As for the purple oceans (that one poster said would "kill you dead within a few dozen miles", who says an alien planet's ecology would be the same as ours? Perhaps Trill plankton are purple or something...

The planet from 'Insurrection' that lets you live forever, as long as I didnt have to chat to those obnoxious locals.
