I worked out my ideal series, but most of you would probably HATE the idea!

STAR TREK: TEMPORAL FRONTIER
Inspired by VOY: Relativity, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday

The late 27th Century. A group of rogue Starfleet officers with unbelievable time travel technology, THE LIBERATORS, threatens to alter history - not knowin the unfathomable damage it can cause,. The Federation are losing a war. The Kingon Chancellor saw joining as a weakness.

Captain Malcolm Gregson (Paul McGann--that's right, a Star Trek time travel show led by Doctor Who!!) commands the Meridian-class USS GALILEO NCC-100966, Starfleet's first timeship. He pulls together some of Starfleet's finest officers from the past to complete missions throughout the timeline.

One is known to have a terrible fate, two are starcrossed lovers, and another holds a terrible secret...

So we can go full fanboy and visit events and episodes from Trek's past, and introduce new areas to the timeline we've only heard about
You had me at Paul McGann

Well, it's certainly light years better than the "Kes as Phoenix" fanboy slop that was proposed in another thread.

The inherent problem with a Star Trek anthology-type show is that every time period is just going to look like DSC, because that's the production values that the current producers use. That's why that crap Section 31 movie, while talking place in the 2330's, looked like it took place in the 2250's of DSC (or the 2400's of PIC, for that matter.)
But the problem with S31 wasn’t the visuals, it was the writing. And besides, the DIS style fits there, since it a continuation of Georgiou’s story.

Next, it’s on Paramount to tell those in charge of the visual design of these shows and movies to knock off the videogame style CGI and aim for stylization that is more realistic. They know how TNG, DS9 and VOY are stylized, and should have had PIC match up with that, instead of matching with DIS.

And on the subject of the Romulan War in an anthology show, you should want it to look different from ENT. Since Starfleet is not playing with Suliban Cabal and Xindi anymore, even if its stylized like DIS. The stakes are supposed to be higher with Starfleet is expanding their fleet, and a deeper exploration of the inner workings of the founding of the Federation. The vibe should be different. Though, if I’m wrong, and its just half a dozen NX ships owning the Romulans for four years straight, then there’s no real story to be told.

We know they had other types of ships. There's nothing saying they couldn't have updated the engines and weapons of ships like the Intrepid type, Warp Delta, Freedom, etc.

My problem about a show set during the Romulan War, is that I don't want it to specifically be about the Romulan War, if that makes sense. First and foremost, it has to be about the characters and their journeys. The war is just something that's happening during those story arcs. A show set in that era absolutely should establish the historical particulars of the Romulan War, but the war itself should not be the central focus of the show.

It was both, along with several other things.

Um, no. The movie took place in 2336, not 2256. The 'DIS style' should not have been prevalent at all, no matter who the movie was about. If they wanted to focus on the DIS style, they should have had Georgiou land back in the 2250's.

How do you figure that and not 2324?

I would like to see a series set in a past time, but not in the way that Rachel Garrett portrayed it in S31. That was too far from the spirit of a woman who gave up her life to change history to my liking. In TNG, she emanated the image of a sophisticated and powerful officer, which is exactly what I want to see. If that is not available, I would be content with Terry Matalas's Legacy, whatever it may be.

Wellll…

After so many previous “oops, we almost wiped out the Federation” incidents over the centuries, it’s hard to imagine Starfleet officers, rogue or otherwise, not seeing the danger in changing the past.

And hitting old episodes from the past (more than maybe once) would be a mistake. The focus should be on these characters having their own new adventures; much or most of your audience probably hasn’t seen most of the old shows anyway, or so you should assume for the sake of the story.

While a time travel Trek series sounds like a really cool idea (check out the DTI novels), it's only for the die-hards who know all the future history. And there aren't enough die-hards left to sustain Trek.
