^ Stop calling Discovery "STD"; it's not only inaccurate, it's disrespectful.
Actually, as an acronym it's perfectly accurate. The show's official title is Star Trek: Discovery, is ir not? Think it's disrespectful? Complain to the geniuses that named it.
Well, first I want to honestly ask something, how it is possible that some people don't like TOS but called their selves as Trek-fan, Trekkie, whatsoever? Please do not get me wrong, I will offend no one, but I cannot get the concept. It is for me saying like "I am US patriot, but I cannot stand Founding Fathers, they are soo outdated". Is there someone who is willing to clarify?
I do not have a chance to not being Trek people. TOS was always present at our home, part of our lives; if not watched, is quoted (mostly) by mother. I remember that I cried when I realized that nasty girl took Spock's brain. So for me TOS and TOS movies (even TMP) are out of competition. What I like from TOS as a child: everything, but most important to believing a bright future, having hope, never giving up. I am not saying "these are all my character attributes, while I learnt them from TOS", but sure TOS has great impact on me from various reasons.
DSC, STD, DISCO what you ever call the show, I did not watch, while I boycott the CBS, since I do not like the way they handle with ST and ST fans. And I do not need another dark show as Trek. I rather spare my time for Orville or if it has to be dark sci-fi then The Expanse.
Nope, buddy...!![]()
You got that backwards. Per the official word of CBS, Discovery's abbreviation is DSC.The official abbreviation is DIS, with an "acceptable alternative" being DSC.

I actually think DSC gets a bad rap. I'm a huge TOS fan, and have been since the 70's. I like all Star Trek to varying degrees...but DSC has really surprised me, and I think it has some great characters (which is the most important thing to me with Trek), cool story lines (despite some unevenness), and a lot of fun. It wasn't as dark as people make it out to be. There were "heavy themes" but it was always about hope and redemption in Season1, which I think are very Trek-like themes.

Trekkie/trekker or whatever you identify as is just someone who likes part of the franchise. It doesn't have a requirement, other than being a fan of something in it.
