Which part of the ship is this?

I couldn't figure out what this part of the ship was either. I didn't realize the sheer immensity of the ship that the nacelles were so big.

I wonder if the ship will have a deflector dish like the tv show version, or a lighted deflector like the refit.

You mean like the Suttles SRB's are bulit by whoever and sent to the cape where they'er attached to the ET ?

Of course all the parts have to end up in the same place some time. I was figuring the engines were shipped there fully assembled from another plant. I was looking for a GE or Boeing logo somewhere on them. Or maybe even Rolls Royce. ;)

That looks a lot like V'Ger actually.

That would be a cool homage if intended...

I say we are in the front looking back. The things at the ends are too small to be the "gabe cowls" or as I refer to them, the nacelle 'foreskin'.

Its in between the now sleeker part of the two intercoolers on the top end of 1701 nacelles seen here:

Then what is that dome between the "intercoolers"? Look at the same pic you posted, see the rear top of the main section, that little dome. Thats where I think we're looking towards.

The dome is conjectured to be the 'Gabe Cowel', though I'm not dismissing your view.

I traced over the outline of the image with what I believe to be the tubular shape of the nacelle; the smallest ring is just behind the 'cowl' (foreskin? dome?), the middle one is at the leading edge of the fins/intercoolers. Given the amount of foreshortening, I'm absolutely certain we're at the back looking forward.

the thing is, the scale is all wrong.

Look at the worker by the "fin" to the left closer to the far end. If I didn't know any better I'd say this was the engineering module.

Of course, scale is something we can't rely on when it comes to CGI.

I should clarify, I meant "where is that dome" in my last response. Further, I am only assuming it is a "shuttle craft control dome". Whatever that dome is, it's never been featured or explained in any episode or movie. I assume what I do based on its location above the hanger doors and the amount of detail visible in the originally posted picture.

Of the screen cap of the two ships from Space Seed, I looked carefully at the space between the intercoolers and I cannot see any dome on the nacelles. Could you please point out the "Gabe Cowel" to me?

There it is again, okay guess it's somewhat official.

Gabe Cowl [tm] is what we're gonna call it folks.

I'm not going to call it that.

Maybe the guy is a good artist/designer, I don't know. I've never reviewed his designs.

I just remember him as one of the geekiest, annoying-as-fuck Star Trek fans I have ever seen from "Trekkies."

I'm not going to call it that.
To be fair to him, when he saw that, he agreed with you, and set himself to changing...well...himself.

Of course, he's still a huge dork, but at least he's not an ass about it. ;)

Arrghh! I cast my vote incorrectly. I'm still convinced we are looking backward from the front...The intercoolers or closer to the back, and that thing at the end doesn't look like the Gabecowls™. We don't know WHAT is at the back end of the nacelles. I'm standing my ground.

...and since I cast my vote incorrectly, can someone who was going to vote "looking forward" please vote "looking backward" to make my vote count... ;)

I don't know, I thought nacelle first but now I am leaning towards the secondary hull looking backwards and those "wings" are where the nacelle struts will attach.

I thought they would be the intercoolers first but then when you look at the front shot of the nacelle with the primary hull the intercoolers seem to have details that these pieces don't.

ACCORDING TO WHAT!? We've never seen this Enterprise before. Ever.

Well, having stared at the thing for decades (yea, I'm that old) I'm pretty sure about the scale of the thing. More or less.

Look at that guy to the left at the end of the fin. he's tinny, very small. This makes me think there's a forced perspective going on.

However, the shape does seem to correlate to the forward views shot of the nacelles. The shapes do seem to correlate.

As I said... it's hard to make a real determination, this is all speculation based on snips from a very teasey trailer.
