Which is your favorite run of X-Men?

^I disliked Joss Whedon's. Like in every single thing he's ever written, every character sounds like Joss Whedon. Hatred's too strong a word for me, though. It wasn't bad, just a bit banal, if occasionally clever.

Grant Morrison has sort of the same problem, but has at least three or four voices to draw on instead of one; plus Morrison had more interesting ideas.

But the Claremont mega-run is the X-Men. Claremont, Cockrum and Byrne are arguably more important for Marvel's success than Lee, Kirby and Ditko.

Oh, and is it lame that I want to give an honorable mention to Nicieza et al for X-Cutioner's Song? There, I said it. I liked it.

^ i already said i liked that era. to me, that was the X-Men. other than the cartoon, i was only reading X-Men and X-Force.

I don't know what happened to Claremont, though. His newer stuff is just atrocious.

He pretty clearly burnt out. I mean, he wrote almost 200 consecutive issues of X-Men comics and well over 200 if you include Excalibur, New Mutants and others during that era. By the end he had almost spend half his life writing X-Men comics. Writing about generally the same characters every week for 17 years will make even the greatest writer run out of steam

The original run 1-66 of Uncanny, as the original five is my favorite team. I've never really cared for Wolverine that much (I can tolerate him fine in the animated versions and films.) and I'm disappointed that the upcoming "First Class" movie isn't focused on the original five (like the comic with the same with name).

I was a fan of X-Men Evolution. Never did get the comics.

You know, I also really liked X-Men Evolution. And as much as the 90s Cartoon was lauded, I felt that Evolution told more interesting stories. While it did take more liberties with the source material, I never personally had a problem with that.

That and he's getting old.
I think he's in a different mindset now than he was, what 20 years ago?

Which is your favorite X-Men run and what are the things about it that you liked?

Chris Claremont?
Grant Morrison?
Joss Whedon?

Chris Claremont, simply for the sheer imagination and character development built into the stories. And my favorite artists to work with him work John Byrne and John Romita, Jr.
