Which film character's death moved you the most?

There's an actual goalpost for that?

If so, excluding 2015 films sounds acceptable. Besides, newer films are often less likely to move or surprise the crustier types among us, so...

Shit, I thought we did. Maybe I'm mixing it up with TvTropes spoiler rules.

if only Connery hadn't skipped that one.
I'm not sure about that, Lazenby was able to project a sense of vulnerability that I don't think that Connery would have been able to do, assuming that he would of cared enough to do so. After all, at the time, Connery was burned out on playing Bond, openly feuding with Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman , and not at all happy with Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell. If Connery had somehow been induced to come back, I can't see him putting in any more effort than he did in Diamonds Are Forever, and probably much less, no matter how good the OMHSS script was.

Besides "From Russia With Love", I agree with you, and I like Lazenby as OO7, and his only Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was a touching film. The death which happened in the movie was shocking; I mean I didn't see that coming and I'm glad no one spoiled it for me. It moved me because Tracy became a whole person and as I saw the bullet hole between the eyes; I was thinking of the possible life she would've had... now lost in eternity.

Shame Lazenby was fired from the role; I heard his ego went over drive back when. Oh well.

The way he tells the story, he simply chose not to do another one.

Coz of his giant ego.

Mufusa - The Lion King

The Iron Giant - The Iron Giant

Jack Dawson, the third class woman and her children, little Cora, the elderly couple - Titanic

I'm afraid groups are ineligible except for individuals within them (like the Red Coat Girl from SCHINDLER'S). But I think we could accept named trios if they're movable enough. No quartets, though, even with names. So we'll call your band Spiro, AJ and Fred-Ed to preserve your list

You said groups... Although a group of musicians is, by definition, a band and therefore a group, the members of the band on Titanic were all, by the rules in place on White Star Line ships of the time, not employed by themselves but through an agency. Now, this agency put people together in one group and on one ticket but were entered into the ship's books and ship's manifest as individuals - therefore legally speaking they were not together and therefore can remain on my list

Could you elaborate on Lee and Maxwell? I'm curious about the specifics.

From what I've read (and unfortunately I can't remember where I read this), Connery was displeased with them for appearing in a Bond knockoff called Operation Kid Brother that starred his brother Neil. Apparently he felt that his brother was being exploited by the Italian production company that made the film, and he was not happy that they were active participants in the movie. Also part of Connery's irritation with Broccoli and Saltzman, among other things, was that he felt that they could have done more to stop the whole thing - although I don't know what, if anything, they could have done. Again, I don't remember where I read this, so you can take it with a grain of salt, but it seems plausible to me - for whatever that's worth.

I can confirm all of this as i heard much the same thing

I was thinking more along the lines of: 'Is the thread title itself enough of a spoiler warning to address the '1 year' rule?'

It's actually 6 months. And you still should have a warning.

(I was joking, I had just read the redone rules.)

:angel:Why would I have a warning?

EDIT: Okay, that was meant to be a joke. Then I found out five seconds later that I really did post a spoiler for an upcoming movie...there's another remake of All's Quiet on the Western Front due this year.

At the end of Dark Knight Rises when we're lead to believe that Batman died, I teared up. Mainly due to the part where Alfred breaks down at the funeral in front of the Wayne's graves.

Futurama - Jurassic Bark - Once. Never again.
Debra Winger - Terms of Endearment. I'm able to make it through her death at the hospital and Shirley MacClaine's hysterics after that but once Jeff Daniels breaks down at the wake I lose it.

Spock in ST II
Joe Gideon in "All that Jazz" (LOVE that movie...so good!)
John Coffey in "The Green Mile."
Little Foot's Mother in "The Land Before Time" (don't...just don't...)
McMurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"
M in "Skyfall"
Captain Miller in "The Green Mile" (tearing up right now...and at the cemetery scene)
Admiral Pike in "ST: ID" (sad and pissed...I really liked Greenwood and hoped for more in the future!)

Glad there is another fan out there, Fox, and hope the tribute was a good one!

"Its Show Time!!!"

Hans Gruber in Die Hard. The man only wanted some loot. Sure, a few people had to die but did that meany John McClane have to let him go? :wah:

The most gut-wrenching utteration of the word "mother" you will ever hear.

Spell check tells me that utteration is not a word, but I like the way it sounds, so I am going to use it anyway.
