Feel you’d have to be a pretty zealous TNG fan to be offended by that, and I can’t imagine any such fan wouldn’t have seen DS9 already. Also, TNG fans generally eat up anything that eludes to Picard’s time as a Borg, so they’d probably love his scenes.

Maybe "A Man Alone" would be a better choice, it efficiently introduces Odo and also the way some people see him plus it really sets the tone of the series.

The B story of the episode, Keiko's attempt to start a school on DS9, was enjoyable to watch as well. It showed a different slice of life on the station.

To the OP, or you can read the very short synopsis of the episodes (type DS9 episodes in Google), pick a few that sound interesting to you and then watch it. If you like what you see, you could then start from the beginning or whatever.

"Emissary"

Probably the best of the modern pilots and has a story about loss and moving on that I think most people would get.
