Which characters were the most annoying?

I like Neelix too. Honestly, besides when I was on my Seven-hating warpath a few years ago, there are no VOY characters that outright piss me off. I like all of 'em.

And I love poor Thomas Eugene Paris. If you guys won't have him, I'm taking him home with me. :)

Kes annoyed me the most. Followed by Neelix. Mind you, Neelix had some good episodes. Kes just never worked for me.

All the rest had their good moments and their weaker ones, of course.

Truthfully the only one who annoyed me was Kes, and she annoyed me intensely.
For the first few runs of watching VOY all the way through I wanted to slap her every time she opened her mouth. Last time I watched it all the way through I had mellowed a bit towards her. She still remains my second least favorite regular character in all of Trek and I still am boggled at why so many males find her hot. Her voice is like fingernails on a blackboard to me.. I don't like this voice IRL either, the "OH I am so GOOD and PURE" voice. I always think, what is this act? BE REAL. I think she would be utterly boring to have lunch with as a colleague. I dislike her lack of liveliness. She is too one note and that note is pure and good and pure and good is eye rollingly dull at best and slapworthy at other times. Gah..

:guffaw:

I agree on nearly everything except for the voice.
Me personally, I find Lauren Bacall/Kathleen Turner type voices sexy.
The only think that made Kes interesting too me were her powers, I guess the did writers too.
It was obvious they were looking to write the character out in the show when the gave the Doc. his mobile emitter in "Future's End". If he could move about independently, then he really did need her anymore. After that even her lines decreased to nothing more than "Yes, Doctor." They cut her off from Neelix, they were cutting her off from the Doctor. How could anyone especially Lien, not notice they were sweeping Kes out the door?

Thank you. Finally someone who rushes to Tom's side. I love him.

Anyways, only character that I can't stand and never will like is Seven of Nine. She was HORRIBLE. Jeri Ryan can act in spades but Seven is just . . . Ugh . . . Awful. Put it this way: I will take Wesley Crusher over her any day.

The most annoying to me were Neelix, Harry, and Kes.

Neelix could have been the real break-out character but he became, as someone else mentioned, a bit too nice. I always thought that had he been a rogue scientist, thrilled with all this new technology and hoping to copy it then use it on Talax, that might have been interesting. Make him like Dr. Smith was originally on Lost In Space.

I know Harry was supposed to be the naive newbie on board, but there was one ep where I liked him, where he and Chakotay try to save Voyager from destruction in the past. He had spunk and an attitude. Harry, frustrated with being trapped in the Delta Quadrant, should have become even more of a bad boy that Paris was supposed to be.

Kes, well, they just didn't giver her too much to do. In the ep where a vicious warlord switches minds with her -- some of her best lines. and acting.

Red Ranger - agree regarding Warlord. I too found the character Kes (not the actress) to be somewhat off-putting. In fact, her voice and monotone remind me a little of Julia Gillard (the current Australian prime Minister).

Please note: Australian women do NOT speak like this - infact Julia and her groomed monotonous monotone have become the brunt of much illustrated political satire.

In the first couple of series it was Neelix and Tom, but they really mature nicely later on.

Chakotas constant spirit guide thing (and I believe in them) really got annoying at the end. Those who do believe in spirit guides dont go around mentioning them in every other sentence.

Seven -arrogant, know it all sex-pot who practically took over the show. I tried to like her, really, but now realize I was just kidding myself and I can freely say - UGH! Would rather they had kept Kes, tho maybe the show did end up lasting longer with Ms. Borg in it, but doesn't mean I don't cringe some now when I rewatch Voyager and see her, knowing how it all ended up. Anyway, just MHO, putting in my 2 cents as per the topic!

^ I see your point. She is rather bossy. Still, I like her because of the conflicts she gets in trying to become human. And after she lost that horrible first silver outfit I could concentrate on her face rather then her boobs.

I don't mind Paris, and kind of like Chakotay and Neelix (I always liked the idea of having a chef on a starship). But Kes, ugh I find her to be incredibly annoying.

The only main character I found annoying was Seven.

I didn't like the fact that Kes was dumped as a result of her being brought in and I didn't like the catsuit, the whole "sexy Seven" thing and the over-focus on the character in the later seasons.

But I can accept the character and live with her presence in the series.

When it comes to other characters, I found Naomi a bit annoying, Vorik too (mainly because the character got so much screen time because the actor was Jeri Taylor's stepson) and the Borg kids (why were they brought in anyway?).

Neelix and Harry Kim. Neelix was written like a petulant retard 85% of the time for the first 3 seasons. He's became less annoying after that, but he was still mostly a waste of character space.

Harry Kim written like a schmuck 95% of the time. Man I really wish they killed him off instead of Kes. Kes was horribly underutilised, but not a bad character.

In the ep "Good Sheapard" Mr. Mortimor Herrin, gets my vote for one of the most annoying. True, he did redeem himself when he headed for the aliens, giving the DF
the few needed seconds to get their W.C. back on line....Great "Ep"

Resistance is Futile....

I agree with everything you say about tom paris being really annoying in the show. He is much better in the books.

My vote goes to Kes. I just did not like her. In fact, I found that Neelix became exponentially less annoying once Kes was out of the picture. That whole "jealous Neelix" deal got really old, really quickly. Kes's departure enabled me to actually like Neelix, so I can't vote for him. It's Kes.
