Where Would You Live

I'm in the camp of liking where I already live, here in the hills of Boston's Metrowest.

But just for fun, I'd list a few

1. A brick townhouse in Beacon Hill back in the heart of Boston itself (commute to my work would be murder and there aren't any better options for me unless I leave teaching secondary school for something using the three degrees I have)

2. San Francisco

3. Austin

4. The UK- Outskirts of London

5. Back in Maryland. It's where I'd rather go if for some reason, things don't work out in the end around here and would be a much easier move than Austin or San Francisco.

There are so many places I want to visit -- or visit again -- but I don't necessarily want to stay in any of them permanently. So I think I would live right here in Baltimore, but in an apt with a water view and/or good shopping, restaurants, etc. within walking distance. And enough money to take at least one trip a year.

Or maybe I would live in Manhattan, NYC, as long as I had enough money not only to survive there, but also to go to the theater and museums and to travel. A view of Central Park or one of the rivers would be ideal.

I'd love to live in a coastal town, probably somewhere in Oregon or Washington. That house where Tom Hanks and his son lived in Sleepless in Seattle, with a boat tied up right outside would be perfect.

^ I fell madly in love w/ Hawaii that quickly, too. Problem is, it's so far from everywhere that I want to travel, and my pipe dreams definitely include lots of travel.

I feel dumb saying NYC because I already live like a minute away. But if job didn't matter and I had tons of money and could do whatever I wanted, then NY is where its at.

If I want something more low key, then some island in the middle of nowhere where the water is crystal blue and its warm.

Also I loved when I travelled to France and England a few months ago, so Europe is definitely a must.

Just home, really. I'd like a house with a large garden.

However, since no restrictions apply, I would love to have the time and the money to travel around for 3-4 months each year.

I'm a hill and woods man so anything with a nice, varied countryside that includes some history (i love old castles and fortresses that remind us of the history).

Part of that includes the area in Germany called Middle Rhine which is a region around one of Germany's largest rivers that is marked with breathtaking scenery and much history (i loved to drive there in the summer.. perfect region for some convertible top down crusing along the river).

I'd also like the region to have real seasons.. when it's christmas season there ought to be snow outside and when it's fall i like to see a sea of color in the trees.

I am very happy where I am. if I had live anywhere else I would probably choose New Zealand.

My goal is to someday have a camper so that I can park on the east coast wherever there's a campground and enjoy the beach. I want an apartment in a big city somewhere where I can keep all my stuff and spend winters. Somewhere with public transit so I wouldn't have to go far for necessities and with a good theater scene.

Hawaii sounds wonderful too.

Is there anywhere not-frozen that doesn't have bugs, specifically mosquitos? Because that place would also be high on the wish list.

Either Seattle or San Diego. Other than SF, they are my two favorite cities in the country. Outside the country, Sweden was the first place to come to mind for some reason. Maybe it's the lack of wars and embracing of Hockey.
