If that was true, we would have had a post-24th show a long time ago.dont be such a party pooper... its what most of us want and it's fun to dream
I don't think that's true. I don't think they care much for existing fans. It's all about getting new fans. That's why there hasn't been a late 24th century show yetIf that was true, we would have had a post-24th show a long time ago.
It's really about getting as big an audience as possible, regardless if they are new or existing fans. The best way to do that was with a 23rd-Century show. The reason why there hasn't been a post 24th-Century show is a lack of interest by TPTB and a possible belief that the farther you get away from TOS, the less interesting it would be dramatically due to even more godlike technology, even more perfect humans, less interpersonal conflict, and more continuity baggage than even TNG had. They're the reasons why both Trek's TV and movie divisions are in the TOS era for the foreseeable future.I don't think that's true. I don't think they care much for existing fans. I might have been curious about the idea once, but after seeing certain things I don't think I want to, now. Enterprise, DS9 and Voyager had episodes that gave us a glimpse of the future beyond the 24th century, and it looked extremely dull. The uniforms, adventures, culture and conflicts looked really boring and uninspired.
It could have just been my opinion, but that was just the impression I got.
To do a post nemesis series focusing on the Titan, the character of Riker would pretty much have to be recast with a different actor. The same would go for the character of Troi.Riker took Command following the events of nemesis, but use Frakes as an occasional character not every episode

You've been on TrekBBS longer than some members have been alive.Lordy, I plugged in the numbers and realized that Jonathan Frakes is now as old as the Shat was they killed Kirk off! Where does the time go...?
He might the ultimate Doctor Who, because you mention the name Christopher Eccleston, and people say "who?'Christopher Eccleston
All that future stuff can be wiped out because most of it was altered timelines to begin with. I use to be really against the idea of a post Voyager show but after "Discovery" I think it might be possible because "Discovery" looks like a post 24th century show to me, more than it does a prequel.
Well their is that plus new people would be running it. That means no Rick Berman who forced the Roddenberry vision on Trek even longer than Roddenberry ever did.
Also I would think no technobabble since that was Micheal Pillar's idea. I do think you would need a 50 year gap to help make the look of the show feel modern while at the same time finding a enough time to create a realistic shift in both how powerful the tech could be or even a shift in humanity so they don't live in a utopia anymore. I even like the idea that the Dominion war had a fundamental shift on humans and the Federation and made them feel like they needed to become tough and that the utopia had actually became a flaw for them.Jason

I hope so. All the extra technology, overdoing time travel, alternate realities, science, artificial intelligence, uniform changes---you could tell by the time of Voyager, the movies and Enterprise, things had become played out.
The universe can't be interesting anymore if all the mysteries have been solved, enemies defeated, all the suspense has been killed and science has solved everything. The temporal wars, the sphere builders, time police, the uniforms the way the future looked---it looked very dull and uninspiring for some reason.
