Where do you live?

North of campus, which is the opposite side of the dorms, frats, and riff-raff. I went from being the quietest person, to being the loudest person. Which is quite something, let me tell you.

I live in a great big sprawling suburb 20 miles west of Boston. Basically and generic town with no character. I live on a residential street with small, single family lots.

Out of curiosity, how far from Sudbury do you live?

I live on the border between the nieghbourhoods of St. Henri and Little Burgundy, just south of downtown Montreal. Right next to the Lionel-Groulx Metro station.

If you can guess which street, you're welcome to come over for some applesauce. :D

Oh, and Hermiod, if I was a true hipster, I'd live in The Plateau (read: Williamsburg). ;)

Never been to that part of Montreal, but it looks like it's pretty nice in the satellite view! :techman:

And while I love Le Plateau, it is definitely very much a hipster area. I describe it to friends from Toronto as "Queen West, but Frencher".

St. Henri's a great place. It's probably not the most typically ideal neighbourhood, but I love it. :D

I'm not really familiar with Toronto neighbourhoods, but from now on I'll know to think of Queen West as being like the Plateau, but less french. ;)

I'm (thank god) no longer living in campustown, now I'm on the east side, about 2-3 blocks from Main Street (downtown). I live a block from the corner of two of the busiest roads in town, and it's a pretty sweet location, cause we can walk to all the bars we usually go to so don't have to worry about DDs or finding some way home after drinking.

I'm in a smallish three bedroom apartment, two roommates (one is one of my best friends, the other is my ex). We live on the first floor right next to the stairs and people don't seem to be able to walk up or down them quietly. But overall it's pretty cool. Our neighbors are pretty friendly, and we're right across from the laundry facilities.

I know how you feel. The fucks next door are always kerplunking up and down the stairs on the other side of the wall next to my bed. But I love my apartment. It's a two bedroom I share with my best friend, has a washer and dryer in the house, and a backyard. Then my other two good friends live in the apartment above ours.

That's cool, I'd love to have a backyard. I miss our fire pit we used to have in ours when we did live in campustown. :( I slept out by it a few times...I discovered last summer that I love sleeping outside without a tent.

;)

It's great having a backyard. I'm really hoping to be able to start a little vegetable garden next summer.

I haven't had a back yard since I moved from my parents' house. At this point I don't think I'd know what to do with a backyard if I had one.

I'd get a dog. Totally.

Too bad the only part of Montreal I'm all that familiar with is the area around the Days Inn on Boulevard Rene Levesque...

I live pretty much smack in the middle of Toronto, just southeast of Yonge and Eglinton (aka "Young and Eligible"), which as LaxScrutiny mentioned above, is about 2.5 million people (5.5 million in the Greater Toronto Area). I'm two blocks from a 24-hour supermarket and two movie theatres, three from a 24-hour drug store, and about a block away from a ridiculous number of restaurants and bars. I love this neighbourhood.

Until I got this place, I hadn't had a real backyard since I was fourteen. We usually just sit back there a lot when the weather's nice. My roommate wants to get a goat.

I can't say I know Toronto any better than you know Montreal. Next time you're down I'll have to show you around. :)

You're on. I should be there for a few days prior to the Worldcon next August - even though I don't really have a whole lot of at-con duties, I should be around in case the people who report to me need me for anything (I'm overseeing the opening/closing ceremonies, the Masquerade, and the Hugo, Aurora, Boreal and Chesley Awards ceremonies).

I'll also have to see if my bf's coming up for the con - I'm sure he'd be interested in seeing Montreal, too. Though he's likely coming up in July for Polaris, and we'll be seeing each other at Dragon*Con on Labour Day weekend, so he might not make it.
