Where do YOU like to live?

I'm from a small city in Tennessee and I lived on the coast (Savannah, GA), the burbs (Centreville, VA) and two cities (Atlanta and currently Washington).

TN will always have a special place in my heart by my favorite place thus far is where I'm now living because of the convenience and the options. Also, there's a clear delineation between the seasons. I couldn't stand that in Savannah. Summer, Summer, Fall, Summer, Summer, Fall, etc. The hell?

I'm from New England, which I love, spent a lot of my life in Kentucky, which is one of the nation's best-kept secrets: green, fresh, nice people, and in the cities of Lexington and Louisville you get all the international and open-minded culture you can handle. However you also get the rural element, which is fine, but...been there done that.

You are correct about that area of Kentucky. I lived in Lexington for two years. The area between Lexington and Frankfort is particularly nice. I wouldn't have minded it I could've lived there. Northern Kentucky up around Cincinnati is nice, too.

As it is, I like Loudoun county, Virigina fine. It's beautiful. A very undeveloped part of northern Virginia. The horse country area around Middleburg is some of the most beautiful scenery in the area. In the spring, when dogwoods and redbuds are in bloom, it's nice to just drive around the county.

For large metropolitan areas, I'll take Chicago any day. It's like New York, but the people are friendly.

Nowhere in England is genuinely cold all year around, just slightly less warm. Average temperatures in Britain are not exactly going down.

I was thinking even further, heh. No matter what time of year I visit Tobermory it's always bloody cold. And despite being a bit of a tourist spot, it's rare to find a Scottish person there. Even the traditional Scottish pubs nearby have English landlords.

Planning on trying out for FCW are you ?

Not with my physique, or lack thereof Drew Galloway (or McIntyre now) had to quit his job to get the gym time to get the body they're looking for. I'll stick with the NWA, they don't mind us being chubby.

The place I enjoyed living most in the States was San Francisco: population around 700k, it's on a peninsula with nice parks and good biking (motorised or otherwise) to the north, south and east, good transport links (unlike the rest of the Bay Area) and small enough you can easily get around without a car. Not many bad neigbourhoods and plenty of good restaurants. Year-round jacket weather in most parts, but the air is nice and clean. I'll be visiting again in a couple of months.

Well I loved the weather in Georgia when I visited Atlanta, but I'm way to liberal for the south. Anyone have any suggestions for a place that doesn't get too cold at all? I'm kinda fed up with crappy Swedish weather.

If you want warmer weather than Sweden...pretty much any other nation on Earth would give you that.

If you want warmer weather than Sweden...pretty much any other nation on Earth would give you that.

Actually we have it pretty okay for a northern country up here, thanks to the gulf stream. I just don't want to put up with snow for even a few months. It gets up to 80 or so in the summers here, but That's unfortunately just every other summer or so, and I'd like it to be a bit longer then just the summer. Perhaps I should simply just move to Hawaii or something.

Well the wife wants to move back to Toronto-- but immigration might be a issue cause of my health.

I personally subscribe to "home is where your family is". But if I had to give a preference and "anywhere but TN" was to general, I'd say Chicago or somewhere up around Washington D.C. If I have to stay in TN, then I'd say in Knoxville or Nashville.

Italy is a sweet, scenic and warm place. I love living in a place where every other corner there is an historic building (and by historic, I mean several centuries at least). It's just like walking in an art history's book. The climate is nice, the hills just out of the city are lovely, and the locals are kind if a little loud.

I've seen a lot of strikingly beautiful places all around Europe, like Edinburgh, Dublin, or Prague, but they are too cold and wet for my tastes. If I were to choose another place, I will have little doubt about Barcelona, Spain. That city is living, breathing awesome.

I like cool weather w/ yearly snow and breezy summers (like my hometown in Canton, Ohio). I like to have a good reason to stock up on winter clothing . I love open space and huskies. However, now that I've in a major city, it would be strange to go back. When I was in college that was also kind of like living in a big city (a vast community of diverse people, vibrant social life etc)... so, maybe someday I'll settle it back to Ohio, but for now I prefer the constant stimulation of a place like D.C.

I love where I live, New Orleans, LA, quite dearly. It's been interesting and colorful place to grow up, plus the music and food is awesome. I'm not sure I could in good conscience recommend it to others though, especially if you need good public schools and regular access to a hospital.

I grew up in southeastern PA and personally think the Philly suburbs are great. I also like Vermont, but I have no idea if I'd like it there year round. I like having professional sports teams and such nearby.

They all have a different feel to them and I love when I go outside one day and I can feel the change coming on ... spring changing to summer, or summer changing to fall. That being said, I do think winter could stand to go a bit longer than some of the other seasons.

That's so funny! Back when I was still living in Chicago, I took a trip to Dallas for a few days and I was astonished by how nice people were. That's not to say there aren't nice people in Chicago, just that there are plenty of rude ones as well.

I could see myself living in many different areas in the US, though perhaps not on the west coast, or in some of the southern states. I loved Chicago and would easily live there again. The suburb I'm in right now is a bit outside Chicago and I love it as well, but I wish I was somewhere with more people. And more diversity.

I can't imagine ever living in India, but I could consider living in some European countries. I don't really know enough about living abroad to know if I would like it or not.

I have a very low temperature threshold which means that I hate summer, even London summers where it's mostly around 20-30 degrees Celsius.

The whole global warming thing is an absolute nightmare come true for me.
