Where Did That Come From? (Scott/Chloe Relationship)

Maybe they just both wanted to have some great sex? Odds are one or both of them would die so why not?
That would have been fine.

People, including myself, are just confused/annoyed by the sudden romance that's apparently been hot and heavy since the very beginning of the show (if not sooner) between them. It literally came out of nowhere. But, at least in Chloe's mind based upon her little exposition, they've been together as a close couple forever and ever.

I'm actually surprised that everyone here is so surprised about it. After all, when Scott and Chloe had that little heart to hear at the end of Air 3, I knew they were going to have sex. After all, Lt. Scott can't keep his pants on despite the fact he should know better.

Again, no one's shocked that it happened or that they had sex in this episode. People are annoyed with how it was portrayed and how it just came out of nowhere in the writing.

It didn't feel natural or organic. It was like watching the "Eli and Chloe budding romance story" that, on a whim, became "lol, nevermind, let's act like Scott and Chloe have been bumping uglies since before they even got here, amg! Oh, and that other storyline, uhm... let's make it some kind of triangle or something. Yeah, okay, whatever. Get a close-up on her boobs and make sure she tells the audience about how this didn't come out of nowhere but really HAS been going on forever and ever. She SAID it, so it must be true!"

Or, in other words, the shitty writing is what's annoying people.

You've never heard of people going a bit OTT with the lovey-dovey talk in the bedroom? Chloe seems the clingy type, tbh - we've seen it with Eli in the friend sense, we now see it with Scott in a sexual way.

They had sex because their world was ending, I don't see that it's all that difficult to believe. Unusual for Stargate, sure; realistic? I'd say so.

The show gave us two people with emotional problems who think there's intimacy between them. They weren't trying to show us a full-on relationship.

I would have totally bought that were it not for that stupid line abuot how "connected" she felt to the guy.

People say things like that at the stupidest of times in real life, why not on TV?

Bingo, it felt like the sort of dumb thing people would say in disastrous situations like that. She's trying to make a connection that feels like it matters in a situation where she actually is connected to nobody, makes her feel better and perhaps, if she's that type of person, helps justify the random shagging in her head.

I mean, gods forbid the everyman math-boy geek genius have a shot in hell with the hot chick, right? Noooo, we can't have that. The strapping young Lieutenant who in the pilot was boning some other military chick, he's got to get the girl.

Yeah, pretty much, that's how it works.

That's the cliche, right?

Well, that's basically real life.

It was very badly written. That's my problem. I don't give a fuck that it happened. My problem is 100% with the writers, not what they wrote but how they wrote it.

I have no idea why some of you people seem stuck on any other aspect of everyone else's problem with it. But if you want to keep giving random, unrelated excuses for the shitty writing, so be it. But that's all you're doing.

Projecting much, eh? Have you even considered that perhaps the scene was written OK... And it's you that has some problem with it?

And that's fine. Having different opinions is fine. I dislike a lot of stuff many people like. But you seem to be obsessed with proving your opinion of the "shitty writing" as objective truth.

It didn't feel natural or organic.

Actually, considering the conventions of television regarding when people have sex, it was completely expected by me. Maybe I'm just more cynical than everyone else in this thread.

I expected it in the "dreaded" sense. I knew they couldn't resist doing something that lame with her character.

Which just made it all the worse when they went ahead with it----so early in the show, too. Usually TV shows wait until season 2 to throw the hot girl in bed with the wrong guy.

See that's odd becuase the way they were playing her and Eli, I was expecting the 'hot girl falls for the nerd' fanboi wish fulfilment in about episode 3 or 4. The fact that they went for the more realistic 'hot girl goes for the jock when she wants some sack time' was actually a pleasant surprise. Eli and Chloe can end up together for all I care, but I'm glad they didn't do it straight off - the way they've done it is far more realistic. As Chaos said, that's real life.

I'd be less upset about it if I thought Scott was a good match for her. It's obvious he isn't.

Nope, because I'm clearly not the only person to feel that way, even if I am the only vocal one at the moment.

And that's fine. Having different opinions is fine. I dislike a lot of stuff many people like. But you seem to be obsessed with proving your opinion of the "shitty writing" as objective truth.
Nope. I just hate it when people refuse to acknowledge something and instead rattle off on some tangent point, then try to call that a rebuttal to the argument. It truly is just giving an excuse for shitty reason. Hooray for mediocrity! Let's celebrate it some more!!! Whee!!!

Of course, by doing so, you then wind up with people who act so bewildered and surprised when all they get is more and more shit. To hell with that mentality.

The way I viewed the scene, Chloe is still in a bit of mourning and she needs to feel "connected" to someone. She's emotionally vulnerable and then this "We're all gonna DIE!" situation comes around, sending her over the edge a bit. Physical comfort is one of the ways humans do this. It fills both a physical and emotional need. I grant however that it's not the only way to do this, but it's hardly out of human nature (especially in one so young) to do so.

And let's be real. Scott definitely fits the "hunky male" role more than Eli does, so it's no shock that the attractive young woman would gravitate towards him - especially when his character is one of the most even keeled characters who is in a position of leadership.
