Where are the Zakdorn?

They were probably at Star Fleet HQs, doing their jobs as strategists.

This would be my assumption also. :techman: If the Zakdorn are literally almost computer-minded in their strategic capability, then I can imagine Starfleet putting a bunch of them to work together back on Earth, and maybe prioritizing protection of their home planet.

In TNG we were introduced to a species called the Zakdorn who are literary billed as having the 'greatest' innately strategic minds in the galaxy, and they are a full member or the Federation so my question is this, Where are the Zakdorn during the Dominion War?

We only saw a tiny section of the Dominion War, a couple of starbases, a handful of ships. This is out of presumably thousands of ships and millions or even billions of people fighting the war. So of the 150 odd species in the Federation, it's not surprising they only had a few. For political reasons Starfleet probably keeps a lot of ships crewed entirely by Zakdorn, Deltans etc, and these would have been part of local defense fleets, not the offensive wings we saw for most of the show.

The Zakdorn did not seem overly burdened with interpersonal skills either, they probably would serve on advisory committees or panels, not in the sensitive high-level meetings we tended to see.

In real life of course they appeared essentially as a macguffin in one early TNG episode, nobody really liked them so the wroters just didn't write them in again!

Star fleet Headquarters on earth and star bases behind the lines.

The Zakdorn, who are actually an offshoot of the Ferengi, are a space faring race of con-men who hit upon the idea of using a time-machine to gain insight in the future of strategic issues of various sorts and then they scamper back to the present to pretend they are the "greatest strategic minds of the...blah, blah". Also, whilst in the future, they snatch some "cheats" to strategeum and in the present include those cheats in an implant that helps them win lots of times thus bolstering their reputation as the "greatest strategic minds of the...blah, blah".

But then they get busted and they all wind up in the doghouse by the time the Dominion War comes around.

(This Fuller joker is really missin' out not having me leading his writing team. I tell you what)

If you think about it behind the line makes perfect sense.

They were strategists not warriors. As strategists they probably worked out the best way to win a war is get someone else to fight it for you. Why do the fighting and dying when other races can do it better?
They just come up with the idea.
