Where and when: Outside US and Canada

Holding back widely anticipated content to foreign markets was already stupid back in the late 90ies:

Doing this in 2022 is commercial suicide. Not only because pirated offers are widely available and at times even more comfortably accessible than their legally licensed counterparts. People who aren’t from the US/Canada will start to believe that the company who is responsible for the delays don’t actually give a shit about foreign markets and their audience.
This will only result in even more people getting annoyed by Paramount‘s distribution policy which will eventually result in even poorer subscription numbers.

It is one thing to decide against a simultaneous worldwide distribution of a major sci-fi show. Not even providing potential audiences with a dependable later release date reminds me of coked up rock stars from the eighties who enjoy cussing at their audience while still expecting them to buy their records.

Paramount+ will obviously fail in foreign markets, partly because of the available competition but also because of their conceited attitude towards their viewers who have been loyal for so many years.

The line must be drawn here! This far, no further…

This, all of it. It’s not just their obvious contempt towards non US/Canadian audiences, it’s also the complete lack of communication. They only ever address international viewers when they’re forced to (like they had to when the Disco season 4 Netflix disaster happened). Otherwise, it’s complete silence and cheerful social media posts advertising stuff that’s only available in the US (merchandise, shows, gatherings, you name it). They act like as if we’re not even here and beneath ANY sort of consideration. No “sorry guys, we know you want to watch SNW, we’re working on it”. Nothing. They could at least PRETEND they care, but they’re not even doing THAT. And that puts the cherry on top of the train wreck that is their global marketing strategy (if there even IS such a thing, I doubt it).

I’m seeing a LOT of loyal UK Trekkies losing the last bit patience they had, and I can’t blame them. At least they got a release date for SNW and now it turns out that they’re still gonna have to wait way too long for the latest episode.

Nobody, and I repeat, nobody who really wants to watch SNW is going to wait weeks (or, for the rest of us pesky Europeans, months or more, who knows, a lot of European countries don’t even have a vague launch date yet) for it. All the discussions and whatnot will be over by then. The hype will be gone. The momentum will have been lost. I don’t know what Paramount thinks they’re doing, but it sure doesn’t fall under “good business” or “smart marketing”.

I don't know if this is actually that bad. In the UK, we are just about to get the season finale of 9-1-1. And we still have to wait longer for most US network shows.

I really don't understand why they couldn't do an European wide release. Service works just fine in the Nordics (Northern Europe).
We have local subtitles on SNW and dubbing on Prodigy. New episode of SNW added every Friday morning, right after a USA release. That's how it should be everywhere.

First 3 eps are up in the UK. Just started number 1.

I’ve just started 7 day free trial of P+ channel through Amazon prime. Not supposed to launch until tomorrow but it’s working.

They're doing them weekly, sorry.
So we wait months for Discovery and now we're three or four episodes behind SNW...

I also can't download any episodes on the app and have to have an active wifi connection to watch them? The fuck is the point in paying for this when it lacks basic features? Once again I'd be better off pirating, which I never do anymore because it became more convenient to just pay.

Looks like you don't get it automatically with NowTV but I've added it to my Amazon Prime subscription. :)

I finally get to watch this shit tomorrow. Or the first three episodes (I've already seen the first).

It better be good shit. Hype levels are high.

Yeah, you need to be a Sky (or Sky Glass?) subscriber with a Sky Cinema pass I believe. HALO and SNW include only the first 3 episodes so the UK offering is not synchronising with the US one - kind of annoying.
