WHen will you watch Discovery? Will you get All Access?

I'll watch it on cable TV as it airs

Has it been stated anywhere what the actual amount paid was?

I recall reading a quote that the first season was already paid off because of both Netflix and All Access payments.

I'm going to buy two subscriptions (just in case they lose my first one) and I'll probably throw a generous donation their way. Mainly just to spite the jackwads who "won't pay out of principle." ;)

And isn't still only going to be a few episodes posted and then the older ones disappear? And only one new episode released per week? That's not embracing the streaming model

I have heard they'll have weekly episode releases but I have not seen anything indicating they'll expire old episodes. That makes no sense from a business standpoint.

I recall reading/hearing early on they don't want people to wait until the entire season has "aired" and only buy 1 month or do the free week, binge the entire season and then cancel. They want them on the platform the entire run of the season.

No, it sounds like pretty much the model Amazon Prime is using for The Grand Tour.

I think Amazon Prime members have full access all the time, but the one's that just buy the video service only have access to the last couple kinda like on demand cable services, am I right?

I haven't heard anything about Discovery expiring.
Yeah it would be really unwise to do that. It's hard enough selling people on a new streaming service for one channel. But cutting people off of previous episodes (and thereby discouraging new subscribers who've missed previous episodes) would be throwing away whatever goodwill they may have left.

Never underestimate the old white guys at CBS for attempting to implement "the network tv plan" on a streaming service. As the architects of CBS All Access have said all along is they want people on the platform for months. Not just a one and done to watch the show. They view this as the new "network tv model" not a true streaming service. I hope they don't go that route with some surprise popping up, bad enough there's going to be a version of it with commercials in the episode.

Well, for now it's speculation. I'd wait and see what actually happens. In any case, it doesn't affect me because I plan on subscribing for Discovery's run (then canceling in between seasons, probably).

Day One I will have CBS all access.
Already have Amazon Prime, HBO Now & Netflix.
Nothing new to me at this point.

As with all things in Hollywood, whether something has a limited time depends on the deal struck with the production companies. 2 Broke Girls, Big Bang Theory, Mom (produced by Warner Brothers)? 7 most recent episodes. NCIS, Blue Bloods, Bull (produced by CBS studios)? Every episode ever produced. So it depends on the deals that are struck.
