When Voyager Ended

Talking about books.

Every TV series have to end one day or another but at least we could have had books to read about our favorites. Now we don't have that. :(
Honestly, you'd be the last person I think that would need books to "continue" a story. Your own imagination has proven far more colorful & creative than most. If you could learn to love the other characters as equally as you do Kes, I don't see why you couldn't create your own fan fic.

Thanks for good suggestion! In fact, I already do that! :techman:

It's only time and a sometimes hectic work schedule which prevents me from writing more.

And at least I get the stories the way I want without unnecessary character destruction.

However, it could have been nice to read some good continuation to the Voyager saga from time to time too and it could also have been a pleasure for those who don't find the way to the Kes Website. :)
Me personally, I wouldn't dismiss "character destruction".
Everybody loves a good character redemption story.
Sci-fi/Trek writing as all about the drama, after all. Especially if the drama has a moral or ethical lesson within it.;)

It's your story, your imagination after all.

Endgame was dull to me because it took the most overused elements of the show (borg and time travel) and assumed that's all people wanted from the show.

Honestly, Voyager's ratings did go up during most of the Borg & time travel eps.
So no, they didn't assume anything.
They did base it on the actual feed back they were getting at the time.
You might think I'm joking but I'm serious.
The writers wouldn't keep using the same gimmicks if they weren't paying off.
The show was the flagship of the network.

Well, ten years later, I've finally seen "Endgame."

I'll be talking about it in my review thread, but basically, the ending felt rushed.

I'll be able to contribute more here after I've digested what I saw.

Yes, chew slowly.
It's allot to digest.

Still thinking about it, but you can read most of what I've come up with in the review thread. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed with how the show ended, but it definitely could have finished stronger. As a story, it was good enough, but as the story to end the show, I'm not so sure.

Agreed.

.....and yes, I've read the review.:)

Cool. I've enjoyed your comments throughout--you often make me consider what I'm thinking from a different perspective entirely.

Finally, someone who appreciates me.

Trust me my friend, the respect and feelings are mutual.:bolian:
IMO, you've really been a breath of fresh air to this forum.

While you move onto your DS9 review, don't for get us "Spirit Folk" here in the Voyager forum. ;)

I wasn't too critical of the ending. I just wanted to see them actually arrive on Earth and see what happened to the Marquis. A line Chakotay had in an episode seasons earlier saying, "It'll be years before we have to deal with those issues; let's worry about it then." Well, those years finally came. I wanted to see what was going to happen.

I also didn't like how there wasn't much reaction from the crew when they arrived. All Janeway said was, "We did it." There was no genuine show of emotion.

Those were my only two things.

I was sad to see it end. This was the Star Trek show that I grew up on. The first one I watched in first run from beginning to end. I was really going to miss the Voyager characters. They were my TV family for seven years. Naturally I was very excited about Enterprise, but I didn't want to get used to a whole new crew. I missed Voyager's a lot.

And for the first few weeks of Enterprise, I really did miss them.

One day they're going to be selling Voyager box sets with Living Witness as the last episode which is where it deserves to be.

I liked the episode, the romance stuff could have been left out.I was a little miffed about the "that's it!" ending. We could have at least gotten a 60 second vignette of crew members rushing into family's arms,Adm.Paris and Barclay doing the usual geeky things at the ceremony along with the doctor, quick cameos on the TNG crew at the bottom of the gangplank, along with the groundskeeper of the academy.Just my humble opinion.

I cried many a tear... :wah: (kind of like I did at the end of Course: Oblivion)

I very much disagree with showing any of the "reunion" that would have taken place when they arrived back home. I thought that them leaving it at that was one of the few things they did in the finale that I wholeheartedly approved of. C/7, the borg and getting home via time travel, not so much...

The ending was wrapped up far too quickly - the whole show was about them trying to get home and they finally do and its like 5 secs of them being welcomed back and they fly off into the light of our Sun - I mean come on writers give it more depth, than a simple welcome home sign.

I agree with many here. I wish they had shown the crew get to Earth. It seemed like there was no payoff when they got back to the alpha quadrant. I wanted to see them celebrate and reunited with old friends and family, etc. As for the prospect of no more Voyager, I was very sad. I despite its problems, I loved the show and I watched it every week. At the time I was hopeful that Enterprise would fill the void. Although I ended up watching all of that too, it just wasn't the same.

It didn't make a difference to me, I lived in an area where there wasn't a UPN affiliate. I had to watch the show through Netflix years later.

:(

I liked the idea of a future Janeway determined to shorten Voyager's trip home. It was a bit of a stretch, but I found it intriguing.

But I also agree with others here that the ending fell a bit flat, finishing up too soon. I wish they'd extended it by at least 30 minutes or made it into a two part episode, where we see how the crew begin acclimating themselves to life in the Alpha quadrant. A major press conference with Janeway, executive officers, and bridge crew. A change of captaincy aboard Voyager. Some crew staying on, while most disembarking onto other assignments. What does Seven decide to do long term? Where does the doctor end up housed--do they give him his own holodeck apartment? Those kinds of nice details...
