When Voyager Ended

It was the Easter Bunny all over again.

This is for you Guy:

I guess you want this

For the most part I liked Endgame, but Chuckles/7 was so stupid. They could have cut all that stupidity and had more time to show the crew back home, some reunions, something.

Didn't like it much. I still find it a little curious that so many complaints about the episode center on C/7, when I feel that even if that's a problem, it's the least of the episode's problems. (Admittedly I had already jumped ship on J/C by the time "Endgame" aired.) I mostly found it disappointing that the series which had started with two enemy crews stranded together 70,000 light-years from home ended with one more round of "Janeway vs. the Borg Queen." It didn't seem to fit, somehow. IMO, of course.

That said, I was kind of sad to see the series end. In a lot of ways, it hadn't lived up to what I had hoped for at the beginning, but y'know, I really liked those people.

I was going to come up with some comments but after seeing the "Easter Bunny"
then I feel and look like the cat in that other picture and I've totally forgotten what I was going to write.

Endgame was dull to me because it took the most overused elements of the show (borg and time travel) and assumed that's all people wanted from the show.

Me too.

But that doesn't mean that I wanted to see Timeless in a funny hat for a finale.

Not because it's a bad Time Travel story but because it's the same time travel story, of course that's like asking me if I want to make love to same beautiful woman twice ( I hear it's better the second time.) Or more accurately first Megan then Jenny Delanney.

Have you read Imazadi (II? been a while. More Peter David fluff.) Admiral Riker from the All Good Things Timeline travels back in time to save Deanna, even though it means that he's saving her for Worf. Commodore Data, Captain of the Enterprise F, follows Riker to stop him saving Dee or guarantee that one or another she still dies even if it's by his fist.

It's like how Hollywood keeps "accidentally" remaking The Seven Samurai, because in truth there are only seven stories in the world.

Talking about books.

Every TV series have to end one day or another but at least we could have had books to read about our favorites. Now we don't have that. :(

Honestly, you'd be the last person I think that would need books to "continue" a story. Your own imagination has proven far more colorful & creative than most. If you could learn to love the other characters as equally as you do Kes, I don't see why you couldn't create your own fan fic.

I dimly remember being glad it was over already, so the upcoming new series could start with a clean slate, and, with luck, not be as ho-hum.

So how did you find the next series? I gave it a shot but quit after I realized that not only was Porthos my favorite character but they weren't going to give him any major story lines. Heck, there were episodes where you never saw him at all. :(
I was excited about the whole "space will be new and exciting again" concept... until the very second episode, where they treat a first contact as something utterly normal, and Hoshi learns an alien language in about five minutes. :p

I was mad originally when Voyager ended. Here I was, an excited Trek fan in 1995 ready to add another series to what I was already watching (DS9) and after 7 years and seeing that ending, all I could say was "That's it". I wanted some kind of conclusion, epilouge, something to tide me over on everything that we watched grow in the last 7 years. What happened to 7, what happened to the remaining Maquis, stuff like that. I guess it's in the books, but we all know Books aren't part of the Canon and I ended up feeling almost cheated.

I've kind of calmed down my feelings though when I last watched Endgame. I still consider it the worst of the series finales (Even worse than These are the Voyages) but there were some good moments in there.

Thanks for good suggestion! In fact, I already do that! :techman:

It's only time and a sometimes hectic work schedule which prevents me from writing more.

And at least I get the stories the way I want without unnecessary character destruction.

However, it could have been nice to read some good continuation to the Voyager saga from time to time too and it could also have been a pleasure for those who don't find the way to the Kes Website. :)
