When is Skaro?

Butters

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Always wondered this. The Doctor destroys Skaro with the Hand of Omega in 1963, so the events of The Daleks, Genesis of the Daleks etc, must be long before this, and the start of The War, being long lost to the mists of time.

There are many inconsistencies in the Dalek story and some of it could be down to one of the many great Time Wars, but wondered if there is any spot of dialogue I’d missed that indicated which direction in time the doctor travelled to reach Skaro. What’s Skaro like in 2018? Dead? At war? Dalek Empire? Flourishing civilisation?

The destruction of Skaro wasn't necessarily in 1963; a Dalek reports the Hand of Omega is "entering Skaro time zone" so it could be anywhen. Which just leaves it open for any future writers to play around with.

Skaro's been destroyed and returned a few times, so it's probably useless to think too hard about it.

I thought the Skaro the 7th Doctor destroyed was a fake..didn't Davros make their entire planet invisible?

There is reference to a fake Skaro called Antalin in the wiki pages, but I’m not sure how closely the TV series is following the expanded stuff in the audios, closely I’d hope.

Yea, they did do that night of the doctor with McGann, that was nice to see..I'm hoping more expanded stuff makes it into the stories.

think that came about from John Peel's War Of The Daleks as a retcon as to why Skaro still existed post Remembrance Of The Daleks.

Factor in the Time War and Skaro has likely been "vaporized", only for the daleks to travel further back in time to prevent the Time Lords from blasting it; the Time lords go further back, the the Daleks again... Well, you get the idea. The planet is probably a celestial "Schrödinger's Cat", both existing and destroyed based upon one's relative viewpoint.
