When is Shore Leave?

For the past four years I've always had a new Trek story in something that I could sign. This year I have nothing Trek-related coming out. I wonder if Inge would give a has-been like me one more free pass. Or if I'll have to buy my own admission.

Oh, the humiliation. . .

Oh my, you stay away from the boards for just a couple of days, and look what happens!

For the record, Dayton is easily the hottest ex-Marine Trek writer that I know. Bubba has the dirtiest mind behind the most innocent face. But Bob is definitely the sweetest!

I thought Bob was sweet, too. Until I tasted him for myself.

Bubba D. (Me? Dirty-minded?)

Ugh! :wtf: I'm eating dinner here!!

So what kind of alcohol do I need to bring to get in on all the happenin' parties at Shore Leave? I seem to miss out on the fun every year. Brings back all those horrible high school memories of never being "in with the in crowd"... ::sob::

Oh, and Bob? Come back to Farpoint next year. The little cardboard masks of you are just getting creepy now.

Karen

Imagine how I feel about the Face of Bob replacing me. Should all go well, Robbie is on track to be done with chemo in time for Shore Leave. Stay tuned.

All I'm getting is white noise...

Here's to all staying on track.

I apologise for the delay on this, Amy, but...

Yo Edgar! I can't remember if I asked you this: did you go to Worldcon when it was in Winnipeg?
I did indeed--which was quite intimidating at the time, as it was only the second con I'd ever attended. It was a very memorable experience, on a number of levels...

If you're curious, I also went to Worldcon when it was held in Toronto in 2003.

More on-topic, just confirmed Shore Leave today. Can't wait!
I'm sure you'll have a(nother) great time. :)

(Edgar, you need to come and represent the Canadian contingent.
You don't know how much I'd love to be able to do so... *sigh*

My husband can't do it alone! Wait, that didn't sound right....)
...or maybe it sounded exactly right? ;)

I probably can't top the other comments on this one (there's also a "topping" or "switch" joke in there somewhere, I suspect), so I'll just avoid the Wrath of Bob (who saw you first, I'm told) and leave this (mostly) alone...

So does anyone know which book will be avaiable early at SL this year?

My guess is Myriad Universes: Echoes and Refractions and TNG: Greater than the Sum, which are the August releases -- traditionally, the early-release-for-Shore-Leave titles are whatever's on the schedule for August. :)

Well, I hope GTTS will be the SL debut book, because that would mean they'd actually have it. Last year, there were hardly any copies of The Buried Age on sale at the convention.

Cool. I'm really hoping I might have be able get myself to go, so hopefully I will get them there. I've never traveled by myself and if I go I will have to, so it's only a question of me getting up the guts to do it.

Aw, don't sweat it. Traveling doesn't require guts. It just requires the patience and self-restraint to not choke the life out of every last person in the travel industry who so desperately deserves it.

If you are planning to go, though, you'll want to make a hotel reservation ASAP.

plus whoever writes those travelling regulations, there seems to be more and more of them appearing every month!

Sorry to bump the old thread, but I'm now able to confirm that I will be at Shore Leave again this year. Since my Greater Than the Sum is the August book this year, I'm hoping that means it'll make its debut at the con, but I don't know for sure. Certainly Infinity's Prism should be out by then, so I'll have at least one new thing there.

Inge was not only kind enough to grant me Guest status, she also asked that if there are any other SNW writers who would like to attend, they contact her, and she'll see what she can do.
