Shore Leave is always the second weekend in July... the dates will float (obviously) but it's always pinned to that weekend. I've heard some unsubstantiated gossip that it may be moving to a larger hotel soon, but this year it's still at the eye-burning Hunt Valley Marriott.

Interesting. Any idea if it'll be somewhere nearby the Hunt Valley Marriott?

I don't mind the psychedelic carpet at Hunt Valley all that much; enough late nights at the bar and it's not just the carpet burning the eyes.

That, or perhaps the smell emanating from overenthusiastic fans who seem to forget their common sense when it comes to things like bathing.

Some con-goers can really stink ... it's wretched, at times.

What surprised me most, given the stereotypes (many of which are true) is how many Trekkies drink. Very heartening. I wasn't the only one at Shore Leave with a flask in my purse.

As it stands now, though, it's very unlikely I'll be able to make it out to Shore Leave again this year.
