When Do You Want To See Burnham Become The STD Captain?

With Lorca maybe staying in the MU,Saru is the Captain. Burham is still rankless, so how could She even get a field commission? Not from Saru.
If Saru is the captain why can't she get a field commission from him? That makes no sense, since a captain has been demonstrated to have pretty broad discretionary powers for field commissions.

I would imagine that the President of the Federation (Robau?* ) has the ultimate authority over whether to pardon Burnham. It would be their decision, since the Federation President is also the commander-in-chief of Starfleet.

And I'm sure Burnham's record of service since her posting to Discovery would weigh heavily on that decision.

* seriously, I do hope it's Robau. Faran Tahir has said he'd love to play Robau again, and IMHO this is the perfect excuse to do it...

Sure in principle, but Saru does not trust her or maybe even not like her.

I think he's gotten over that by now.

Originally, Saru resented Burnham because she took the job that he believed was rightfully his - meaning, Saru thought that Burnham would get her own command, and he would ascend to the position of first officer aboard the Shenzhou. But then of course Burnham got that position instead of him.

Saru carried a grudge because of that, but he's over it now. He no longer resents Burnham for taking the position of Shenzhou XO, nor does he believe that she had anything to do with starting the Klingon War.

I would think that captains would be able to put aside personal biases in selecting officers. Just a thought.
Dunno but Lorca selected some twit he picked up from a prison cell to be his chief of security. He also took on board a mutineer as a specialist. These guys are not very bright.

Why is the broad generalization of "not very bright" based upon Lorcas's actions? Unless we are talking about Starfleet captains in general, in which case, you are generally right. Unless you're James T. Kirk.

Saru and Burnham partially"had it out" in the first block of episodes. I still believe Saru goes not want her high up in the chain of command.
