When did you realize you were old(er)?

I turn 37 next week, and I've always felt out of my age. But some of the definitive things I've noticed are hearing my music both in the grocery store and on the classic rock stations; seeing the friends the wife and I went to high school with posting pictures of their kids high school graduations; I've started waking up at more reasonable times in the morning without an alarm clock.

Eh, depending on the 19-year old, it could be kinda creepy. Legal or not, plenty of 19-year olds still act like children.

That's true. That applies to any adult, though, really. Lots of adults who are well past that age still act like children.

When I called my pcp's nurse's aid and she told me my birthday was also her moms. What a coincidence. Also when old people start looking younger to you especially in pictrures and on t.v. and for me also when Jackie Gleason didn't look that fat anymore but that's another story.

Is it creepy if you are 30ish and the lady is 19 and she hits on you? :rommie:

No, but it IS impressive.

If it was the other way around though, YOU'D be considered creepy. I don't personally think so, but society, for some reason, would.

Having just publicly proclaimed my 65th birthday in a thread on this board, I STILL don't feel "old". I easily associate with kids of 7 or 8 as well as people in their 80s. Bach, Glen Miller, Billy Joel and Lady Gaga are all entertaining, even inspirational And I like ALL of Star Trek. I'll feel old when I need help to take a piss.

I have always worked around people of various ages and in the case of where some people are much younger it really is strange when one has taken a liking to ya. This has happened a few times...but I wasn't interested. It is funny when someone who is 18 or 19 thinks you are in your early 20's when in reality are actually 30 or so. This is also the point one might realize they are old. :(

When I saw little babies grow up to have families of their own.
.
-When my brothers daughter had her daughter 2 years ago at 19 ( I've been her uncle since she was two.( But I still look younger than my younger brother)
and I'm 50 this year.
- when there was more gray in my beard than my head.

When Justin Bieber came out, Kidding, he's alright, I guess. (I've not heard his music but people seemed to hate him when others thought he was cool, and to be honest, I never quite understood the effort that went into that reaction.)

when i was talking to a colleague and mentioned a kids tv show and he had no clue what i was on about and then told me he was born in 1988...

Justin Bieber? Who is she?

As for me, the age of realization was 38. Everything changed that year.

I would hope not to feel old, but I already feel old. I think I was born old.
Too many people have called me an old soul. I feel like an ancient.

Hasn't happened to me yet (now at age 41), but my daughter "graduating" from 8th grade this week (when the hell did they start calling it that??) has me leaning that way a bit more...

Well, I just turned 50 last month, and we called it graduation when I went through it back in '75. Caps, gowns, the whole ball of wax.

I said in another thread that my "old" moment came in my early thirties, when I began to wonder when they let all the kids into "My Air Force."

I'm 41 and don't feel old in the slightest. I'm fortunate to be perfectly healthy and visually I look much younger.

I also associate well with pretty much any age group. I find that things that help you feel young are having an open mind about things and being adventerous. Just trying and experiencing new things both keeps things fresh and keeps you in tune with those "whippersnappers"! If you can enjoy what younger people enjoy and relate to them, they're not some group of others--you're one of them!

I think I'll feel older when 20 year old women stop hitting on me! So far, that continues so all is good!
