When Did You First Discover Star Trek?

I thankfully discovered Trek in the early '90s, when the national TV station started showing TNG on Sunday evenings. Every episode came with a special introduction from one of our SF writers and it was always a little event.

I was aware of it as early as 1966 but at age 6-7 it didn't stand out much, especially in black and white (we didn't get a color tv until 67-68). I "discovered" Trek in reruns in 1973.

I first discovered ST after seeing SW in the theatre as a kid back in '77. I misread ST in the TV Guide as SW (I was four). The rest is history as the saying goes.

It was 1993, while at university. A group of us watched Best of Both Worlds Part 1. At the time, we had some American students, who told us it was good. Damn straight it was. But it was when I saw Deep Space Nine, is when I became hooked on trek. At this time had to deal with late timeslots, as it was the norm here.

I first got into Trek during the third season of Enterprise. I liked what I saw and wanted to see more.

Actually, one of my earliest memories is of Star Trek. When I was really young I would hear the loud, majestic intro of Next Generation and run to the television to watch the ship flying through space. I also distinctly remember seeing a Ferengi for the first time, and for some reason it really creeped me out lol.

I discovered Trek at about age 4 when and my Dad first exposed me to his syndicated recordings of TOS from WPHL-17 in Philadelphia and WPIX-11 in NY. Then in Sept, '87 I witnessed the birth of "The Next Generation" on WTAF/WTXF-29. I recall being in Kindergarten and staying up late during the first season watching the program with my Dad and with my Galoob figurines, phaser, and die-cast Enterprise-D!

(I have just achieved the rank of Captain!)

I can remember watching TNG Identity Crises with my dad. I was maybe 7 at the time. That's when I was hooked.

I was around six or seven when TOS was syndicated on a local station here in the late afternoon back in the 90's. I was hooked, and after they stopped airing there, I discovered the local video rental place had every episode on tape. Oddly, it would be years until I tried to watch the other shows. TOS defined Star Trek to me, and I wasn't particulary intrigued to venture beyond it.
