Glad you have hot water. I'd never attempt a repair like that, especially a gas hot water heater.

Well, I managed to make it exactly 3 months without anything else breaking.
Nothing lasts forever, though. Went out of town this weekend for the holiday, and I came back to a warm refrigerator. The freezer is working fine, so I'm hoping it just needs to be defrosted (or something equally easy to fix). But damn, it's always something, isn't it?

We had to replace the Refrigerator and Dish Washer in quick sucsession. Plus we also did had to replace the water heater also back in January. When we had the Backup Generator installed, when the gas company went to restart our water heater they discovered it was burning through the side wall of the water heater. It was a 40 gallon and we replaced it with a higher efficiency 50 gallon one.
We need to paint our house and replace the gutters this summer. We have some rot on the fascia nd want to fix it quick. So we're getting quotes for both. We also have to remove two ash trees because of ash beetle invasion. At some point soon we're going to need to replace our heat & AC systems, they are original to the house. So both very old and not very efficient.
