What's your unpopular opinions on SNW?

It's my second-favorite of the themes to the current streaming Treks. Prodigy's is just exquisite and one of Michael Giacchino's greatest accomplishments as a musician.

The theme on its own can be a bit, eh. But the theme combined with the visuals of the opening credit sequence? Masterpiece.

I know this might have been said elsewhere but the internal proportions and dimensions of Pike's Enterprise and shuttlecrafts are really throwing me off. I know it is technology now vs then but it's really doing my head in how much Pike's Enterprise feels more like a luxury liner and bigger than Enterprise D. It's just a minor thing but it gets me, especially for the shuttle, and after I just watched a scene from Voyager where both B'Elenna and Tom noted how Starfleet shuttlecrafts were known for being cramp. I know it's a me thing but the internal proportions truly bother me... and how there's hardly anyone in Engineering.

It's emptier than other Trek shows' Engineering and I know might have more to do with COVID restrictions than anything else, so it really can't be helped.

It's funny because people went on in the 1980s about how "luxurious" the TNG Enterprise was, and now when I look at the old shows the sets seem as preposterously small as those of the original series. That's almost as true of DS9. That "Promenade" is much more limited than a 1986 enclosed shopping mall.

This 1450 foot-long ship has a crew of 200 people. I think they've got the space for all those rooms.

Well, aside from the bridge of the original TOS ship there was no way to know where most of those other rooms were. In the case of SNW, there are several established locations for main engineering, crew quarters and so forth.

I just upscale the TOS Enterprise to the same length - as is almost surely intended - and everything works out. Once you do that and suspend a couple of areas of disbelief it all flows together.

Yeah, I started thinking that way the first time I saw Mr. Drexler's cut-away and he indicated the size that he went with to be able to fit everything in ...
(433 meters)
