What's Your Favorite BEER?

My (rare) beer drinking has been shaped by whatever has been available where I'm playing pool at. So while I know this will probably be frowned upon, I actually have positive memories attached to, and a slight fondness for, Busch and Budweiser. Preferably cold and out of a plastic cup.

That's heresy.

I think they taste like burnt toast.
I've had many people tell me that stouts don't even taste like beer. Personally, I love them. They are capable of character unlike any other beer. You should try a cherry or chocolate stout sometime. You might change your mind. :)

A Stout isn't a beer, it's a style. Examples of the various styles include, but are not limited to: ale, lager, pilsner, bock, doppleboch, barleywine, and porter.

Skimming through this thread just made me shake my head. Some of you sure do enjoy drinking toilet water.

I love the Hook Norton beers, especially the Old Hooky. This is possibly because I went on the brewery tour as part of a stag weekend and we had about 5 free pints each before we'd even booked the tour.

My friends, this thread is for beer drinkers. I know there are those of you out there that can't stand beer, it can be an acquired taste, I didn't like it at first but with age I've come to appreciate it very much.

So for those of you who are beer lovers what is your favorite beer? Lets not have a beer war, beer can be a very personal thing, everyone is different.

For my daily needs it's MGD.

Mmmmmmm... BEER! :drool::drool::drool:

Kudos for the great thread idea.

Ivy League:
Stone Imperial Russian Stout
Grand Chimay (Blue)
Guinness Extra Stout
Great Lakes Burning River
Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA
Goose Island Oatmeal Stout
Chang (pretty delightful light beer from Thailand)

Some goto beers:
Peroni (amazing w/ Italian pizza)
Samuel Adams
Corona
Blue moon

Widmer Hefeweizen and McMenamins Terminator Stout when I'm out. At home I keep the beer fridge stocked with various brews beginning with Sam Adams at the start of the month (when I have money) and working my way down the beer chain during the month (as the money runs out).

I love this thread!
I've been into a great beer tasting run lately. I used to stay within a certain range of brands but now when I go to the store I specifically choose ones I haven't tried yet. That said some of my favs so far:

Shiner Blonde Bock
Amstel Light
Stella Artois
Harp
Smithwicks
Old Speckled Hen
Dos Equis
Blue Moon
Warsteiner
Red Stripe

There's a bar about 45 minutes from here in a small college town that has a ton of beers in the coolers by the bottle and another 30 or so on tap and the bartender could describe every one of them. He even mixed a few of the "flavored" beers together like a genius alchemist. By the time I stumbled out of that bar I was a happy customer.

There's an interesting concoction that I only know as Wankenstein (not it's real name, but if I ask for that, I get the right beer) in some back alley bar near my regular. It's good, but it's pricey.

Warsteiner?

But that's not good. ;) (And not that pricey, either, but I suppose it might be more expensive in the UK.)

My favourite beer:

Unfortunately, it's pretty difficult to come by outside of Munich. Which is a pity. I recently discovered a bar here that served it and made an Austrian acquaintance of mine a fan.

Nowadays, the only beer I drink is Clausthaler Golden Amber. It has all the flavor of some of my favorite dark beers that actually have alcohol (Warsteiner Premium Dunkel, for one), but it lets me stay out of trouble. :techman:

On that note: For anyone else who drinks -- or has drank -- non-alcoholic beers, particularly imports like Clausthaler or Kaliber, am I the only one who notices a distinct raisin flavor in the aftertaste?

There's those pretentious bitches who scoff at beer and only prefer hard liquor or something expensive. When I'm around them, I just crack open an ice-cold bottle of beer right over their damned head. TAKE THAT, SNOB!!

Umm...yeah...

Miller Genuine Draft

Corona Extra

But my favorites are the kind other people drink and leave their deposit bottles/cans for me to scoop up and collect the ten cents each on.

The next! ,
This ones pretty good

Funny you should mention Clausthaler, I have a case of that sitting on top of the fridge and a few bottles inside the fridge. I noticed when I first tried it that it was a little sweeter than what I'm used to and could never quite identify the reason why. But it could definitely be a raisin aftertaste. I'll have to pay more attention the next time I drink one.

I have to ask, what beer is at the end of the chain?

I don't drink too often, but I do enjoy a beer every now and then. My tastes are pretty simple: usually I'll just get an Alexander Keith's or a Canadian.

Oh, and while we're on the subject of beer, I have a question: I've had some bottles of Canadian in my fridge since... probably April. Would they still be okay to drink? I'm going to a party on Friday, and I'd like to finally get rid of them.
