What's with the Uniforms?

Is Scotty blonde in that pic? Or at least a much lighter colour than in the 3000AD birthday video he posted from the set (where he had black hair, as he did in STXI)
Pegg frequently changes his hair color. I've seen him blond, ginger, and somewhere inbetween in the past.
Yeah, but two hair colours in one movie?
His hair wasn't really black in the first one, more of a brown.

I wonder if we'll be hopping ahead a few years in this movie, hence at least one of the uniform changes? If I interpret the shoulder ranks correctly, Chekov's a lieutantant now?
There's still no rank stripes on his sleeve in the photo, but Scotty's uniform retains lcdr. stripes.
I was talking about the stars on the epauettes. Scotty has two rows, and if each row corresponds to a sleeve stripe, Chekov should have none - if he were still an ensign. Possibly a stretch, I know.
I would pay more attention to the sleeve stripes than the epaulettes, because they could mean something different (or a costuming error on Chekov's costume).

That little girl's parents are being made to sweat, while they check if their papers are all in order.

I laughed, but the truth is that my country is becoming more like that every day.

Those uniforms stink, look more like Starship Troopers. Shouldn't they have just used a broken stripe for Ensign? Bit silly, wonder if they have an non-com ranks would have thought the reboot could use a new system

'Marines' = combat roles. I'm tired of 'Battle Trek'. DS9 did the interstellar war thing so well that I feel it never needs to be revisited. I want to go back to Trek being about intrepid explorers that occasionally get into scuffles, not MACO/Section 31 tripe.

1) Section 31 is a black Ops terrorist group not space marines.

2) Going back to exploration doesn't necessarily mean you could have space marines, I mean intrepid explorers need someone to guard them from anything hostile they might run into, and this is Star Trek we are talking about that seems to happen a lot.

Besides just because your an explorer doesn't mean you can't be a solider too, just ask Kirk.

IIRC - a single broken stripe was Lt Junior Grade. At least one did appear in TOS that I can recall.

And yeah, I'm not a big fan of these new uniforms either. They look like they're supposed to be derived from the dress gray cadet uniforms from VMI or the Citadel, but these guys aren't cadets any more.

Their not cadet uniforms, those are red. They look like the uniforms the instructors, Spock, and Pike where wearing in Trek XI.

A broken stripe was used in TMP for ensign ranks, there either was no Lt jg or they used the same rank as Lts.

The epaulettes might be one row for junior officers and two rows for senior?
Also they may not be the same.
