What is a Brony?
For those who may not know, a "Brony" is a shorthand nickname for "Bro Pony" (though opinions differ), or an adult who is a fan of the show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic".
The show appeals to these adults for a variety of reasons, of which a few include the show's lack of cynicism, and it's emphasis on differing viewpoints being a strength rather than a weakness in a friendship. The show has generally well written stories, deeply developed characters (moreso than the average sitcom), technical achievement, many quotable lines of dialogue, and due to the above, a very strong and growing fanbase.
Some would consider the show to be aimed solely at young girls. This is made in error, and has been explained many times in the past, and is generally ignored. To quickly recap, the show's creator, Lauren Faust, who was involved in such animated programs as "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" and "The Powerpuff Girls", has stated that the show was written for children
and adults. In her own words, "I didn't create this show for little girls. I created this show for little girls and their parents-- including male parents. It only stands to reason that adult animation fans without children may like it too." [

Like her previously mentioned projects, MLP:FiM has broad based appeal, and it's lessons resonate with people of all ages and genders.
