I didn't see where it started, but it would seem that the intent is to bait other members... which is why it is funny that moderators are taking part in it.
Regardless of their position on the film, if someone is able to be "baited" by harmless joke avatars that don't mention any specifics than they have bigger problems to deal with than what's in the movie, and should probably take a break from the internet.
My contribution to the meme before it's overdone like the sombreros. If someone wants to use it go ahead.
