What's this...? TOS.5.2

Paintin' her up...

Also, my bro and I are off for two weeks come Saturday to the Big Island (Kona) in Hawaii for surfin', sun and fun, so no updates for a while. Aloha.

I still think it would be good to keep the seats pointed forwards as even in star-trek people get flung around by various plot devices.

That would not even be close to an issue with 23rd century anti-gravity and inertial damping technology.

^ I wouldn't worry about the comment. I have found that fans tend to apply the stipulations of current technology and its limited parameters to Treknology in order to understand what they are looking at. And you are more than correct. 23rd century anti-gravity and inertial damping technology eliminates the need for everything to be facing forward, or even horizontal for that matter. If you wanted, you could have the starboard seats attached to the dorsal hull and the port seats attached to the ventral. In space up and down, left or right is of no consequence.

And I for one love the fact that the flight seats are arranged against the wall. It is a better use of space, opens the floor up for use during a mission and just looks darn cool. Awesome... as always.

What is it with all this talk about inertial dampening? Damping reduces an undesired influence, hence inertial dampers. Dampening just makes things wet.

^ :rommie: Oops. Ummmm... yeah... We were talking about those pesky Trek Mermaids that his shuttle will be carrying. Yeah, that's it.

i like the antenna on top of the roof.
deg,

I noticed on John Eaves' site that some of his shuttle concepts for the movie (2009) also have a similar stubby antenna, in pretty much the same place.

Did you pick up that idea from him? Or was it more of a "thinking alike" situation, in figuring how to add detail without breaking the classic look?

LOL, and corrected and thanks, my friend. Learn somethin' new every day, eh. :)

Oh no, EK, that credit does indeed go right to Johnny, eh. I loved his little antenna(s) from the get-go. I am actually waiting for him to get back home (he's back in AZ attending Robert McCall's funeral) so he can send me his designs of his unused E and F versions of G7 for Star Trek (2009) so I can build that über-cool buggy, full-on Eaves style. :)

I'm glad you take these things in exactly the spirit they're intended. Grammar Nazis just don't get the respect they deserve.

By the way, has anyone told you that's a gorgeous shot of the shuttle yet? I sometimes think artists get even less respect than Grammar Nazis.

Yeah, no prob, dude, I appreacite it, as I'm a stickler for proper use of grammer and spelling, esp. in this day-and-age to typed word communication, eh. So thanks, my friend. ;)

The picture could only be improved if the Lightwave lens-flares would look better ;)

Really nice work :techman:
The shuttle looks great.

Thanks, ST-One. :)

As to the flares, I myself really like LW's lens-flares. I have Knoll Light Factory as well, but like I said, I like LW's LF for two reasons, a.) It's so long been what I have seen in sci-fi TV (esp. modern Trek to the point of it being canon), and b.) I feel it's actually is a pretty good actual representation of light-spiking of bright lights, as I tend to spend a fair amount of time observing the real world for comparison. And while I do like the look of JJ's extreme lens-flare action, at times it gets to be overdone, IMO, still, while at the same time looking kinda cool. I have yet to play with the neo-Trek "look" in that regard. In time perhaps. :)

Mhmm... yeah I guess you are right. 'At least' the lens-flares from TMP can be reproduced quite accurately in LW. :)
