My 78 year old mom, grandmother of 4, a former librarian and nurse, keeps getting Soldier of Fortune-type weapon catalogs at Christmas. She has no idea why.

I keep getting spam from a Christian dating site advising me that my perfect, presumably fundamentalist, match is just dying to meet me. Which is exactly what I want to hear, being an atheist and all.

I keep getting those as well.

Those are pretty useless to me, but the most useless are probably ones from schools like the University of Phoenix, urging me to enroll for the fall semester.

I might consider doing that--if I didn't already have a PhD. And a job as a history professor. In Canada.

Sort of the academic equivalent of offering viagra to a woman, I figure.
