What's the coolest Star Wars scene of all time.

There are so so many to choose from, and a lot of them have been mentioned here, but one I haven't seen is Luke's final fit of rage during the Lightsaber fight against Vader in Jedi.

I've recently re-watched all 3 (ORIGINAL VERSION) OT movies on my iPad while commuting to work, and I watched Jedi yesterday....I gotta say, the music cue, the camera angles and just the fact that it's pretty much their silhouettes against the battle of Endor is just simply breathtaking.

I used to shit on Jedi for Jabba's palace and Ewoks, but that is one badass scene.

The opening scene in Star Wars with the Star Destroyer chasing Princess Leia's ship is not only the greatest scene in Star Wars, it's one of the greatest scenes in film history.

"Here they come!"

The Falcon's escape from the Death Star in Star Wars. Ninety-six seconds of editorial perfection - visuals, music, dialogue, pacing. Bravo to Richard Chew, Paul Hirsch, and Marcia Lucas.

To this day, untouched by GL.

GL fixed the number of windows in the cockpit to match the model.

The climactic duel between Vader and Luke in ESB.
Everybody's saying that. Jedi's was totally better.

You know what I'm glad, like sort of astonished and really pleased no one has said, even tongue in cheek? Leia in a metal bikini chained to an exploitative monster. Sexual assault is no joke, dudes.

Why do you hate fun?

Hard to pick one "coolest" scene. I think the original Star Wars is still the most fun of all the films. I think the coolest scene has to be either the Death Star Falcon escape or the prison shootout. The cantina scene is certainly worth mentioning as well.

I don't wanna get into a whole thing (I think it's already been done anyway) but the sex symbol ascendance of scenes depicting criminal sexual conduct and sexual slavery (which would have ended in a murder) is disturbing to me.

I mean, yeah, she looks hot in it, but that's the male gaze, buster. You've got to contextualize that shit.

The scenes in the throne room in RotJ are probably the best. I also have a fondness for Anakin and Palpatine's chat during the Opera.

I'm also an advocate of the throne room Luke/Vader one-upping the ESB version. The ESB version features stunning visuals, and frankly, it's technically better executed, but the dynamic of the Emperor there and the emotion level being raised makes it imo one of the best (if not the best) scenes in the entire OT. Pre-Noooo! version anyway....

They tell him not to give in to anger and hate, but there is a naivete to their advice.. Luke could not achieve the power to defeat Vader in physical combat unless he did
I don't agree. I think that, given enough training and mental prep, he could definitely have defeated Vader without using as much anger as he did.

Someone is taking this scene way too seriously...

Dude, he was asked about it directly, and he gave a straight answer while saying he didn't want the matter to drag out. You're the one getting overly worked up by getting at all worked up about it.

Anyhow, I think we all know what Leia's hottest look is:

That Leia can order me around anytime. :bolian:

I did say that, but strictly speaking, it might have been a lie. :p I mean, I did bring it up. I probably should've said I don't wanna derail a pleasant, fluffy thread over it, which is actually true.

So let's all get in my windowless van, drive down to the next thread, and talk about sex in media.

P.S. I liked the robes the best. Ok, that's a lie too.

I'd like to say it's about empowerment and shit, but it's really because she has a mask and a leash. Score.

I also love the scene when Leia shoves her tongue down Luke's throat.

Editor's note: I didn't love this scene until after I saw Jedi.

The first time I saw ESB (in the theater a couple years before the events of ROTJ would lessen the potential coolness suggested), I really loved the scene where Luke is leaving for Cloud City and the "He is our last hope"/"No there is another" exchange. For one thing, it really made the battle between Luke and Vader seem that much more dangerous - I felt Luke really might die or might go to the dark side after rushing off despite not being ready. And then there was the couple year wait imagining where they could go with the "other." Now that scene really isn't as meaningful or suspenseful, but the first time around it was probably one of the best moments in the film for me.

Does the scene where Bea Arthur serenades the cantina count?
Or the one where Wilfred Brimley rescues goldilocks?
If so, I want to change my answer.
