What's the coolest Star Wars scene of all time.

Other than on a technical level, that scene has nothing on the duel between Luke and Vader at the end of Empire.

There are too many great scenes in that film to pick one best one.

-Yoda raising Luke's X-Wing.
-Han being turned into a carbonite sickle.
-Luke getting his hand cut off and finding out Vader is his father.

Yeah the duel in ESB has always been my favorite duel of the entire saga. I don't care how flashy the PT duels got, most didn't seem to draw me in - even the ROTS duel, which should've drawn me in, wasn't all what I had hoped.

I like the scene where Anakin and Padme talk about sand. It was groundbreaking.

The climactic duel between Vader and Luke in ESB.

Honorable mention: Luke and Leia swinging over the chasm in the original movie.

For me it's always been that final, furious lightsaber battle between Luke and Vader in ROTJ, with the eerie chorus behind it. That still gives me chills everytime I watch it (for some reason the Luke/Vader battle in ESB has never made much of an impression on me).

As for the prequels, the final three-way lightsaber battle in TPM will always be the coolest in my book. The choreography on that was absolutely amazing, and (for the first and only time during those movies) had me completely glued to the screen.

While it completely ruined the character in my eyes and made him one of the biggest hypocrites (and idiots -- why the fuck didn't he throw the stone at Dooku's ship?!) in the franchise, Yoda's fight scenes are about the only ones I can sit down and watch repeatedly.

For me personally I find the OT duels to be more memorable, despite them not being really flashy compared to the PT. Scenes like Vader striking down Obi-Wan, or Luke leaping out of the carbon freezing pit, Luke kicking Vader off the freezing chamber platform, Luke being hurled out the window in..uh..that Bespin control room (whatever it was.) Vader throwing his saber at Luke and taking the catwalk down in ROTJ etc. Stuff like that was simple but effective.

Everybody's saying that. Jedi's was totally better.

You know what I'm glad, like sort of astonished and really pleased no one has said, even tongue in cheek? Leia in a metal bikini chained to an exploitative monster. Sexual assault is no joke, dudes.

One of my favorite scenes is the Han and Vader encounter on Bespin, Han trying to blast Vader - and Vader just deflects the shots and pulls the blaster from his hand, and of course Vader's cool delivery of "We would be honored if you would join us."

Yeah, this is my favorite scene out the all the films. Not just the Han/Vader aspect, but the realization of betrayal and all that. Not a long scene at all, but it gets me every time.

I agree. I loved it when Luke finally decided to fight back and wound up kicking Vader's ass in four seconds.

You also pretty much covered my second favorite scene.

Yes it's quite dramatic. The Chewie growl is spot on too. It's one of the scenes I look forward to every time.

"Here they come!"

The Falcon's escape from the Death Star in Star Wars. Ninety-six seconds of editorial perfection - visuals, music, dialogue, pacing. Bravo to Richard Chew, Paul Hirsch, and Marcia Lucas.

To this day, untouched by GL.

Yeah ever since I was a kid, it always seemed a bit odd that Luke is constantly told NOT to give in to anger or hate, and yet it's only when he gets royally pissed that he's finally able to defeat Vader. lol

OK, true, but he's not consumed by the anger and hate, and his training in what he had been told helped him pull back. Granted he started getting fried by the Emperor next, but, you know, that brought Anakin back.

I think it is what makes Star Wars more interesting. They tell him not to give in to anger and hate, but there is a naivete to their advice.. Luke could not achieve the power to defeat Vader in physical combat unless he did, but the question was whether he would be consumed by that lust for more power. Luke never craved power for power's sake, but anakin did.
