what's next for Marvel (movies)?

The long-term staking out of the first weekend of May continues. Sony has announced that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will be released on the 10th June 2016 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 on the 4th May 2018.

Why announce the release dates for the third and fourth movie already, before seeing how the much money the second movie makes? Talk about stupid.

Staking out plum release dates has become a very long-term game. They can always cancel the projects if the gross for the next movie isn't good enough.

It's not stupid at all; it's extremely smart because it concretely establishes that Sony's approaching this franchise "James Bond-style".

What do you mean Bond style? The next release date for the next Bond movie still hasn't been announced yet, and Skyfall made much more money than ASM.

Which it may not be. It's not like TASM gets a lot of love.
Waiting for a trailer with finished f/x and cgi but the on set pics that have been released are underwhelming. Especially if they continue with the weak narrative of the first film.

When I hear "James Bond style" I think, "continuing with the storyline while just replacing the actors".

Warners/DC has been passing on their move for some time. Not sure they are going to jump at Joss' promise.

We are getting Wanda(Scarlet Witch) in TA2, most likely Janet(Wasp) in Ant-Man and probably Sharon Carter in Cap2 as well and Gamora in GotG. That's 4 right there to add to Black Widow and Maria Hill. Could that be the promise in and of itself?

So who might Joss mean in addition then? Ms.Marvel? Spider-woman? Hellcat? Mockingbird?

I would go nuts if Ms. Marvel showed up in any capacity. She is without a doubt my favorite Marvel character at the moment.

At this point, I think a Ms Marvel movie will be released before a Wonder Woman movie. That's pretty sad.

I've been wondering about how she'd appear in a movie.

Would Marvel insist she be Captain Marvel in the movie, to try and help the struggling title? Or would they have her revert to Ms. Marvel for the comics? Because there will be one or two people who want to pick up her title based on her appearance in whatever film it would be...and they'd be confused when all they see is Captain Marvel.

This question comes to me a lot when considering Carol appearing in a Marvel film.

I'm sure Hollywood will decide "Captain" Marvel will sell better than "Ms" Marvel.

Maybe. But I just think that Marvel would want her to be Captain Marvel in the movie, that way when interested people want to seek out more stories involving her, they aren't confused.
