What's Kirk got to do with Romulus? (Spoilers maybe)

Im guessing Nero emerges from his time travel adventure and just happens to bump into the Kelvin (similar to some others thoughts) as I kinda like the idea that killing Kirks Father as well as almost his Mother and Kirk himself was a galactic coincidence.

Likely event the Kelvin is in the wrong place at the wrong time, Nero emerges sees a ship and his first instinct is to blow it up, either to avoid detection from powers higher up or just because he can.

I still think Kirk plays into Nero's plans more prominently than people think...

He's being born aboard the Kelvin when Nero attacks.

He's at Starfleet Academy when Nero attacks.

And those two events would have to be some twenty to twenty-five years apart.

If Kirk doesn't play into Nero's plan... why show a picture of him in Countdown? Why not Pike or Decker or Garrett for that matter?

I thought he graduating from starfleet academy when vulcan is attacked?

In any event I would gather Nero attacks San Francisco not because Kirk might be there, but because it's the home of the Federation and Starfleet. It'd be like taking out Washington DC. It would be a central target of any attack.

evidently nero is familar with kirk considering what he says about kirk being a great man
in the trailers.
and there just seemed something personal about the way he said it.

and the attack on vulcan probably is later since bones at that time is aboard enterprise as an officer.

Because the comic isn't a tie-in to a film featuring those characters?

Has anyone noticed the time difference?,
We see Nero destroying the Kelvin soon after Kirk is born, It's at least 20 odd years before Kirk ends up on the Enterprise. What could Nero possibly be doing during this time?

Perhaps he's actually not hanging around for twenty years, twiddling his thumbs, but travelling forward and backward in time (remember, we don't know the internal chronology of the movie yet)? Perhaps the entire story happens - from Nero's perspective - within only a short amount of time?

for all we know the image of the gold shirt kirk is from the start of the film where kirk actually does stop a time traveling nero and then the film switches to nero going after kirk to prevent that.

So...the gold shirt Kirk is the original TOS timeline Kirk? And the black/leisure-shirted one is from the changed timeline?

My head hurts.:wtf:
