What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI Lea

Mutara Nebula 1967

When you think of Princess Lea what image first comes to mind.

As memorable as the gold bikini was I still think Cinammon Bun Lea.

I doubt if anyone thinks Braid Lea from EMPIRE no matter how revered that movie is.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

The big hair-buns look is definitely the most remembered.

Her braided look in Empire may be her least memorable look, but I also think its her most beautiful one. I like braids on women.

How is this a contest for any guy? Clearly Bikini Lea is a bigger icon for any straight male over the Lea that was completely covered from head to toe and had her hair in a bun on both sides of her head.

I don't think sexy and iconic are the same.

I think Cinnabuns is more iconic.

What bout Han? Black vest or blue collarless blazer?

I never really paid attention to how Han was dressed. I'm not sure he has an iconic look, aside from having the face of a young Harrison Ford.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

Well, in Star Wars he's got the black vest, in Empire he's wearing the blue jacket.

I think I always think of him in the blue jacket first...that's kind of how I judge iconic.

hair buns and Black Vest, IMO. And Luke in his Roman semi-toga thing from the original movie.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

Honestly, I always thought Leia looked best in her Bespin, Cloud City gown and cape. She was quite regal.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

Han is probably most iconic in his SW look, hence why they kind of returned to it for JEDI.

Some people think the vest makes an appearence in ESB, but actually it's just the shadow of the set.

Cinammon Bun Leia is more iconic.

Gold Bikini Leia looks better though.

This.

Basically, how all three of them looked in ANH is their iconic look. That's not to say some of the later costumes weren't better (I liked Han's jacket in ESB, and Luke's all-black outfit in RotJ), but it's first impressions that count.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

The Star Wars continuation comics from Marvel drew the characters in those same ANH clothes for years. Issue after issue of Han in the black vest, Luke in his desert tunic, and Leia in her white dress and cinnamon buns. Regardless of conditions.

I think Marvel had been drawing exclusively superheroes for so many years, they forgot that these weren't costumes and that sometimes people do change their clothes. You have to wonder what the Marvel Bullpen's collective dress habits were like.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

Towards the end of the first 30 or so issues, and also in Archie Goodwin's newspaper strips, they started to show Luke in his "Victory celebration" outfit from the end of ANH.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

I think we all prefer her in the bikini get up, but the twin bun hair style is so iconic. I also agree about Luke and the tunic and Han in the vest.

Re: What'is the more Iconic Princess Lea-CINNAMON BUNN or GOLDE BIKINI

Cinnamon bun, definitely. The bikini was nice and all, but ultimately really out of character for her (voluntary apparel or not). It's interesting that so many people love her in the gold-kini, yet anytime anyone on STAR TREK showed a bit of skin after 1989 suddenly the show was accused of being sexist and juvenile...

Actually that was after 1987, because you have a few who are offended of women in duty skirts....or like you said, anytime someone showed skin.

Old folks still living in the 19th century, or people scared of anything sexual, I think...(Trekfan stereotype!):p

In regards to the thread, I actually thought Leia's ANH gown should have been shorter...with the white boots...Hmmm...:shifty:

And I actually liked her in the Hoth outfit...and she looked lovely in the final celebration scene in ANH....

...but, to answer the question, I have to say both are iconic.

Although, it seems like the slave Leia outfit has turned up in pop culture more recently...

The buns are what most people think of first.
The bikini is what most of us think of first.
