Whatever happened to Starship Exeter?

Found this randomly today. Not sure if anyone officially associated with Exeter has seen it but I thought I'd share here:

I am just thrilled that the episode is still being worked on. For a while there I was sure it would never be finished. I'd say that I'd love to see it for my birthday (I turn 50 on Tuesday) but that's nowhere near enough time.

For now I'll settle for having posted in this thread so I should get notified when it does come out :)

I'm curious about something: It's been years since shooting for Tressarian was wrapped up, and some day the final act will be released. But what's the likelihood of another episode with Cutty and the Johnsons, either produced by Jimm and Josh, or someone else? I seem to remember the Johnson's having walked away from filmmaking, but there are now at least a half dozen producing groups that were directly inspired by them (Farragut, STContinues, Starship Valiant, Starship Ajax, Axanar). Could one of these groups, or even someone entirely new, be allowed to take the Johnsons' baby and do something new with it?

Would the Johnsons consider putting their uniforms back on one more time if someone else did the heavy lifting?

I'd squeal with absolutely fangirl delight if someone on starship Hermes called up Captain Garrovick on the subspace horn. Even if it was only a 30-second viewscreen insert, that would be a terrific nod to Exeter.

The last time they shot anything was over 9 years ago.
Given that fact I'm guessing that we have seen the last of
the adventures of the USS Exeter.

I just hope we get to see the film finished some day.

I've been posting some images on the Exeter Facebook page (link), if anyone's interested. Some behind the scenes stuff and a frame from Act 4.

Principle photography was 9.5 years ago. There were some pickup shoots since then, and I'll be shooting a few inserts myself in the coming weeks (hands pushing buttons and such).

I'm through making estimates on this, because life seems to always throw a monkey wrench into all schedules, but I feel like we finally have a solid base edit for the act. The tricky thing now is finishing all the VFX shots, and there are a LOT.

Thanks for the offer. What 3D package are you using?

We do have most of the spaceship elements done. It's mostly the bizarre environment they're traveling through that needs to be finished. You get a glimpse of it at the end of Act 3, but it gets weirder.

It's great that it's still being worked on. I've always felt that Exeter captured the
feel of TOS better than all of the other fan films out there.

And I also don't use facebook so I'm out of luck.

You have to admire the dedication involved in getting this episode completed. The latest clip looks very nice. I had no idea that filming took place over nine years ago. It looks like it was shot yesterday.

Maurice, have you considered an Indigogo campaign to raise some funds to hire effects artists? You could also try to get help by posting your project at wreckamovie.com.
