The reboot was a different story. JJ Abrams couldn't go back in time to the 1960's to bring young Shatner, Nimoy, et al forward to 2009 and have them star in his movie. Neither could the producers of SNW.
1. Just beause we're in minority doesn;t mean we don;t exist.
2. TOS cast was recast.
3. There's no canon death of Kes. Should could travel forward in time at worst.

Why would her returning home to become the leader of her people and lead them out into the sunlight be a waste? Yeah, she could go back tot he AQ, but the Voyager crew has dispersed.
I agree. I think her going back to the Ocampa homeworld and becoming the teacher of her people (in what form that may be) is both the most optimistic and most logical ending for Kes' story. And also the one that is most in character for her.
But that's of course only speaking about the character as she appeared in official Star Trek media. It doesn't take any fanfiction in consideration (because why should I? Why should anybody?)
You misunderstand. There's a difference between recasting because you're making a production taking place in the past and need younger actors, and a production that takes place during the time when that character is still chronologically the age they should be the last time we saw them. So even recasting Kes with an actress the same age that Lien is now, or finding some old lady for the part, still defeats the purpose. People want to see Lien as that character. Otherwise there's no reason to bring them back. That's why they used Tim Russ as Tuvok in PIC and not some other guy.

Agreed. I don't read fan fiction myself nor the Trek novels. For me, Kes's final appearance is "Fury" for better or worse. Would have been nice to see her in Prodigy.

The TOS cast got recast, because the director intended it to be a hard reboot despite the script being written as an alternate timeline story. Little bit of indentity crisis there.
Sure there is, it's called writing a story that features Kes, followed by producers and the studio saying, "Cool, let's do it." That would be the reason.
Where should I buy a lotto ticket, and what's the winning numbers? Come on, use those abilities to see the future for practical useful things like winning the lotto.

I mean I like fanfiction. I write some myself (not Trek though, Trek feels to restrictive to me to write).
But it is just that, fanfic. And it should never be considered when talking about official canon. And it has no authority whatsoever.
Yeah it would have been kinda nice, eh? Prodigy visiting the Ocampa home world and the whole place is nicer now and Kes is there as a sort of teacher of the tribe so to say. That's the way I would have wished for her to return.

I would have loved that. Imagine Prodigy touching down on Ocampa, not having any idea who they or Kes is, but the audience knows. Alternatively, imagine Voyager-A spending an episode over Ocampa.
I just assumed that given 5 years locked in a box with a dwindling power reserve, that half Ocampa would have eaten the other half, to keep their shields up for another week, fearful of whatever hell awaits them out side their cities.
Then its billions of starving Ocamp armed with chair legs, versus thousands of Kazon with disruptors, nuking huddled masses from orbit.

It basically ends up like the future in "Time Machine". The Ocampa already look like the Eloi and those that make it to the surface are going to become like them, while those down below become cannibalistic Morlocks, haha
First, I don't expect to be cetered for by star Trek canon producers. I donlt need it, and maybe I even donlt want it. I can make due with fanfiction, because some of it, and especially Kes - centered one, is much better than most of the modern canon. And if there will be no one else writing for Kes, I will. If I were to be the last person who cares for this character, so be it.

Thank you. It's good to see I am not alone. But it's also possible you will die before I do (but it's also possible that I will die first). I am only saying that, if every other Kes fan dies or ends their online presence, I will still be here.
True!
But what does he care? He's just out to provoke.
Reminds me of a certain person back at the startrek.com forum years ago.
Maybe this is the same one.

Voyager's turned into a museum, replaced with the Voyager-A.
Admiral Janeway's flying a desk on Earth.
Captain Chakotay's on his 2nd command, Voyager-A.
Tuvok is doing black ops for Starfleet.
Harry, we'll find out before Lower Decks ends.
Tom is drifting around Starfleet ships and bases, doing Voyager DQ PR stuff.
B'Elanna - we haven't heard what she's been up to since Voyager's homecoming.
The Doctor - last seen with Admiral Chakotay and Captain Chakotay, probably Chakotay's Doc on Voyager-A.
Neelix - left behind on the Talaxian colony with his new-found family.
Kes -
Seven - last seen in command of the Enterprise-G in the Picard finale.
Yes, they have really messed up the whole crew with the boring scenario you describe.
Not to mention what the author who destroyed Garak did in that recent Janeway biography, turned them all into boring old fools and complete idiots.
But it can all be rewritten with some will and skill! No problem to activate all of them again.
When it comes to Ocampa, the planet is on the other side of the galaxy. The area is difficult to reach and would place Kes totally out of everything StarTrek related when it comes to stories and such. Not to mention that it is against Kes's nature to go back. She did leave once to learn and explore so she should continue with that.
I actually forgot about this stupid 9 - years lifespan before you reminded me. I tend to fix it rather quickly in my "Voyager redone", Lunx, now that she didn;t left there.
As for her going to the homeworld, at least I canm use it to make an "Ocampa civilization" for Galactic Civilziations II/III/IV and play as her as their leader.
Having her on Ocampa can be a good thing for a game but when it comes to future Star Trek books and such, it's better to have her in trhe Alpha Quadrant where the real action is.
Recasting is a thing: Savvik, Alexander (twice), Ziyal (twice), Dr. Maddox, Janeway (while filming "Caretaker"), Naimoi, Icheb, the TOS cast (in the movies, again in Disco and SNW)
As I've stated before, I don't want some third-rate actress with artificial lips and no resemblance at all to Lien's Kes to show up in some dystopian 2020's Star Trek movie or serie and pretend to be Kes. Then they better find someone who really looks like Kes and can act.
Books is another thing as long as the author does it only to further destroy the character
Unfortunately, you have a point here. To fit into today's doom-and-gloom show, characters must be troubled souls with tons of problems from the past and there must be a lot of fighting, blood-splattering, betrayal and unhappy scenarios.
I can agree about Prodigy. But it's a cartoon series and most of them are optimistic, bright and cheerful which other shows aren't. Let's hope for a better 2030's decade with more optimism, like in the 1980's and 1990's.

There's no reason to think it would such bad casting nor dystopian future which we've NOT seen in the modern shows. I mean, Jennifer Lein pretended to be Kes, why can't someone else do the same?

Reboot trilogy, Discovery, Shorts, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Strange New Worlds
Which of these are doom and gloom with fighting, blood-spattering, betrayal, unhappiness?

Could I replace Mick Jagger in The Rolling Stones?
Can a simple street musician replace Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden?
And most of the series today are gloomy.
I used to read them.
Until recently.
But the Voyager books from seasons 1-3 are really good!

I see where you're coming from, but realistically, there's not going to be a series or a movie. That's why we've just been getting characters pop up here and there. The closest you're gonna get to a Voyager revival is Star Trek: Prodigy, give it a go if you wanna see more Voyager.
Actors playing characters is not the same as musicians playing music.
People go see a musician to see the musician.
People go to the movies or watch TV for stories.
Most people don't care if someone is recast.
WeIl, that can change. And hopefully the Ocampa will take up into space and begin to explore and expand into nearby space and exploit its resources to rebuild their civilization (and hopefully not exterminate anyone)

I mean, the Ocampans live 9 years, only have one child, which means for every two Ocampans who die, they will be replaced by one, meaning a rapidly shrinking population. They are entirely reliant on their underground city. It's no wonder Kes wanted out. Susperia had the right idea. What do you think? The Caretaker was trying to fix his mistake and save the Ocampans in the short term, but in the long term, he did more harm than good - but not on purpose. His dying act was to protect them, telling Janeway how important it was.
