What would you think about TOS ”redone”?

Would you be interested in a series where all the episodes of the original series were redone, brought to ”today”? New actors, new effects, what would be the same would be the stories. TOS for modern kids.

I guess there are fans that say NEVER! Leave the classic be.

Part of me agrees with that but it would be interesting to see what the original series would look like if it was done today. If it was done, no one would force anyone to watch the remakes, you could just stick with the original.

I think I'll reserve judgement. I would have thought a Pike series was more likely at this point. If I enjoy Pike, Spock , and Number One, then maybe, if they could pull off the right dynamic.

The fan created stuff was enjoyable with low budgets and amateur performances, and some episodes were damn good, so never say never.

The only way to go if you want the TOS era back is to set your show a few years after the Enterprise returned to port but before the first film! That way you could keep the old look and intertwine it with a TMP style! The costumes could be a bit of both and you could in theory bring back elements of the original series!

The second five year mission is fertile ground and the sets would require only minor tweaks (less buttons ) to look cool and sci fi. Although the uniforms were not popular , I think they could hybridise them with more popular styles (shoulder pads and collars ) to make them more uniform like . The medical uniforms in Discovery are already hybrids.

I'd rather see all original characters and stories. During the TOS era there would be plenty of scope to expand on the sense of adventure and wonderment, whether on a sister ship to the Enterprise or something like a Miranda-Class.

Absolutely. And yes, CBS, it is quite possible to replicate the look of either the TOS or the TWOK era and still make it look cool and modern.

I think the shot-for-shot remake of Psycho showed such an exercise to be dull and pointless.
And I don't think any of the prequels worked.
I'd really like any "new" Trek to be set in the period between the TOS movies and TNG.

The only idea like this I've heard that I actually like, is a redo of the animated series in CGI.

The stories would also have to be restructured to match the frenetic pacing of today's televisual narrative style.

I would love to see a TOS ethic and look series set around one of the below.

1) John M Ford's Klingons Trek (as my thread on here).
2) Just after Romulan War, UESPA commissioned Daedelus class explorer. Lower tech both handheld and shipboard, very much seat of your pants. Basically what ENT should have been!
3) Ranger class scout (FASA STTRPG design). Small, compact, tough little ship, 35 or so crew. Again, very seat of your pants, pulp action exploration and discovery. But set in the late TOS era.

A storyline not covered in any of the NuTrek stuff could be how the Klingons changed into the turtle headed variety or evolved whichever way you'd like to call it! :klingon:

I fall on the "leave a classic alone" side of this line. That said, would totally love a Kelvin TOS series -- new stories but with the Kelvin crew in the Kelvin Timeline. Will never happen, but a man can dream.

That was explained in ENT.
And, explained even better in The Final Relection, twenty years before. Manipulated genetics for the purpose of aclimitazation and espionage instead of just the whole race "catching a cold".
And, in fact, the TFR version, extrapolated upon, COULD make a good storyline.............!?
