What would you do if you were a civilian on the Destiny?

I'd likely start trying to learn the Ancient language so I could actually contribute to the effort of figuring out how to get the ship working properly. When I wasn't doing that, I'd be helping out in hydroponics to insure that we don't run out of food and medicine.

The last thing I'd be doing is stomping around, crying, and trying to start a rebellion when there's nothing to rebel for. They're barely surviving right now. There's no infrastructure, no hope, and now they've even managed to acquire an enemy. I'd much rather have the military in control of things until there is something worth governing over.

I would find Dr. Rush and drink some Johnny Walker....

Well, I'd leave the ship/groundside exploring to the redshirts, main cast and kenos and focus my exploratory efforts on Lt. James and her vast tracks of land.

I'd go through training with Greer to get into top shape and learn useful skills / be trusted to carry a weapon.

I'd also make friends with Eli, resident sci-fi geek and spymaster, slowly convincing him that he'd be better off ignoring Chloe the Albatross and angling for the nympho-scientist chick or some female redshirt.

Backing the military against further civilian stupidity is a must, obviously and I have no problem with menial labor or book keeping, so working with the resident quartermaster could be my day job.

Like someone else said, I'd cross train. I'd go train under the ships 'doctor'. She's always in need of help. It seems civilians are never in shape so I would make sure I would stay in shape. Being in shape and having some medical training would give me a better chance to go planet side more often than most.

Meredith, that video is amazing. Then again, I am a huge fan of continuous takes like that.

I'd give myself the job of starship reclamation. Use the kinos to explore sealed off sections of the ship to see what is out there. I know they've got an armory in that ship somewhere.

Then when the ship drops out of FTL, do what the did when they were out of FTL for a month, and do some repairs to allow the entire crew to access the ship.

Given the size of that vessel, you could do that job for years.

First thing I'd do to acquire additional skills useful for survival, like combat training.

This is not your fathers Stargate where the Jaffa, Wraith and Ori soldiers looked like the Spartans. The one enemy which has shown up were dispatched pretty easily by a middle aged scientist. Learning how to grow a tasty tomato or teaching just-a-cook how to make something besides gruel may be a more necessary skill.

I'm already an engineer to start with, I'm sure they'd put me to work. Though I'm not sure what a civil engineer would do on a million year old space ship though.

I would also try to learn combat and survival skills.
