What would really happen in a voyager-like scenario?

In the beginning, I can see a healthy debate.

But after they started blowing up Federation Star Ships?

I don't remember that. Couldn't it be in self defence?

If you try to mug a cop, and the cup draws her gun in self dense, you can't also draw your gun in self defence too, can you?

The argument was "If you get in our way we'll treat you like a spoon head".

They must have got someone during all that DS9?
This could have been an empty threat, do you know of one instance of that actually happening?

Besides I actually saw Sisko blow out one of their ships without even trying to disable it first. After all that lecturing of Worf in Rules of engagement that seems a bit inept, but then again he was trying to be the villain in that episode, well, mission accomplished!

I'm no longer the authority I used to be.

It's been yeeeeeeeears since I had a decent rewatch.

In For the Uniform, the Maquis crippled the Defiant with the a cascade virus and then attacked the shit out of the USS Malinche.

Sisko announces that he plans to continue his campaign against all of the Maquis colonies in the DMZ, telling Eddington that when he attacked the Malinche the Maquis proved themselves to be an unacceptable threat to the Federation.

Well, then maybe Eddington should have destroyed both the Defiant and the Malinche instead of crippling them, that would have spared his friends in the Maquis ship that Sisko, blew up. There are times when my sympathies don't go to Sisko and his bad temper, what an asshole!

Yup, and Neelix would have told Janeway that he was lying.

Remember this...

RAZIK [on viewscreen]: He kidnapped a young man. During his escape, it became necessary to destroy his ship. No doubt you found the remains, so I suggest you depart immediately.
PARIS: Thanks for the advice.
NEELIX: What a most unusual offer. A Kazon-Ogla Maje allowing a trespasser to leave his space unharmed. What would the other Kazons say about this new merciful attitude of the Ogla?
RAZIK [on viewscreen]: Don't tempt me, Talaxian. I would just as soon open fire.
NEELIX: Would you?
PARIS: Neelix.
NEELIX: No, I don't think so. That would attract every rival Kazon sect to your secret training base, wouldn't it? Now, I know your ships, Maje. I even sold a few Plaxan sensors to the Ogla a few years back. I have no doubt that you read the same life signs on that moon that we have.

The Kazon are carnivorous.

First sign of blood and they swarm on their own.

Don't fricking fall for the corbonite manoeuvre Lynx!

The quoted situation from "Initiations" is completly different from the situation in "Caretaker". I don't think that Jabin was lying.

I am sorry , but my opinion is that he was indeed lying.

^^
I don' think so. He was so eager to take over the array that he certainly was doing everything he could to do it.

And even if he was lying, the remaining Kazon ships would have enough people to board the array, capture Janeway and Tuvok and hinder them from sending the ship home.

Not to mention if my theory about the Kazon-Ogla was right, that their base on Ocampa was under siege from another Kazon sect, due to the lack of water (see the Kes Website, under "Voyager mysteries and how to solve them). In that case Voyager would have to face another Kazon sect which would try to take over the array and eliminate the Kazon-Ogla at the same time.

I am sorry but this theory seems a bit strained to me.

Starfleet Captains have the authority of a full Ambassador according to Trip in Enterprise.

Which is a stupid thing to say since Earth hadn't met anyone yet except the Vulcans.
Well, they met the Denobulans and the ECS ships were visiting other planets and meeting aliens.

If Archer is the guy out there meeting a species for the first time and is representing Earth, he is an ambassador.

His method for getting diplomatic relations is to get beat up first.

By Ambassador Trip probably meant someone who can set up binding trade agreements, mutual defence pacts and extradition agreements... You know a person that can sign/stamp any paperwork on behalf of Earth.

More than "goodwill".

From Terra Prime it would seem that Earth had met and interacted with more than a few alien species, it was just a case of them coming to Earth, as opposed to us going to them.

:)

What was the context of the statement?

The word seems to be Diplomat, not Ambassador.

A Night In Sickbay.

ARCHER: I was a perfect gentleman. We're going to have to go somewhere else to find you your injector, Trip. These people are impossible.
TUCKER: Their components are metallurgically sound, dependable. We could look for six months and not find anything half as compatible. You're a trained diplomat. Take the high road. There's got to be some way you can kiss and make up.
ARCHER: I'll have T'Pol see if she can find out what we did, but I'm not promising anything.

It's really a question of what the word "trained" means. A three year course at the academy, or a weekend at a seminar in Hawaii between tiki parties?
