What would have happened on Earth after a Dominion victory, if the Dominion didn't eradicated it?

Taking over Earth by doing switcharoos with leaders doesn't sound like an efficient tactic.

Replacing the leader of a totalitarian government could work to a degree: the word of the Supreme Mother of the Fatherland carries weight, and can quickly alter the course of the realm. But even the Big Boss relies on cohorts, which fight desperately for good positions in the inevitable succession. If the High Emperor seemed to sell out the Empire, there'd be an assassination and a coup soon enough.

Replacing the leader of the UFP shouldn't work at all. The leader there is but a figurehead and a slave, in the sense that if he or she or it says the wrong thing, The People take over and tell the next leader to say a different thing. The government is a vast machine, the loudspeaker part of which isn't actually in charge of the actual workings. Pretty soon, the Founders would run out of volunteers: it would take hundreds of Changelings imitating politicians and soldiers and, for all we know, newspaper editors to really make the UFP leadership machine say the things the Founders want to hear.

The total commitment of the Dominion to Alpha was never made quite clear, but a Founder stated there were four of them on Earth, directly establishing that the real number was something else. Or then not. Hundreds would sound highly unlikely, though. And wherever the Changelings did their devious infiltrating, the purpose was to disrupt, confuse and obstruct, rather than to provide longterm guidance...

Changeling agents primary objective was to destabilize the alpha quadrant by setting off various interstellar wars, destabilizing governments and ensuring the astropolitical system of the AQ was chaotic and war torn.

Had they fully succeeded in this regard, it would have made the occupation of the alpha quadrant a relatively easy process with Jem'hadar eliminating battered and exhausted resistance.

Basically the dominion wanted to take over the AQ as smoothly as possible and with as minimal losses(for themselves) as possible.

Gul Dukat would rule the Sol system as its governor and end up with an Earth style Bajor resistance because he never learns from his mistakes. The Founders would be infected with an incurable disease via Odo and eventually die. The Jem Hader would then go on a rampage killing all and sundry due to the death of their gods. Section 31 would blow up the wormhole and use the Guardian of forever to change history

Borg would have finally have had to step in and fight a war to stop the Dominion. The UFP is where they assimilate their best tech. It's like the gift the keeps on giving. They're not going to let that vein run dry.

The Dominion vs. The Borg would make for a great grimdark Trek timeline.

Honestly, the writers were not very consistent with how The Dominion/The Founders were treated. You got the idea in the early seasons that life for the average race which submitted to Dominion rule wasn't that bad. The Founders were only really interested in ensuring other races weren't a threat. They didn't really care about extracting the wealth of subject races in order to live high and mighty or anything. Just keep your heads down and you'll be fine. But the DS9 writers felt the need to up the stakes over the course of the series, until The Founders were engaged in total war.

You know what would have been the most sensible way for The Founders to conquer Earth? Just keep sending changeling spies who slowly took over the entirety of the Federation governance - ideally well before The Search. Get the Federation to sign some treaties favorable to The Dominion which result in Jem'hadar bases in the Alpha Quadrant. By the time anyone in the lower ranks figures out something is wrong, The Federation's defense perimeters are so fucked that even after the changlings are rooted out the Federation would have to sign up as a Dominion protectorate - or fake "ally" like Cardassia.

I don’t think it was that inconsistent. It was established that Ferengi ships were never attacked in the GQ. There would never have been a single gem’hadar on Ferenginar, because they’d quietly find a way to profit within their rules.

There’s no situation where the Dominion could have subdued Earth without blowing up a few cities. Too many people on Earth would never accept an erosion of their freedoms no matter how big a threat presented by them,

If they did try to take over Federation governance, episodes like Conspiracy set a precedent that no change in behavior would go unnoticed.

What would have happened on Earth after a Dominion victory.

Humans would secretly build giant battle robots in order to rise up against the Dominions.

The giant robots would of course be piloted by young Japanese girls.

I honestly think dominion rule while unpleasant wouldn't have been genocidal or extremely disruptive. The dominion is interested in order, and so long as everyone submits is usually not too interested in being overbearing.

Resistance to dominion rule would involve pretty harsh responses though and earth might get destroyed as a result.

We really don't know, because that's never explored on the Gamma Quadrant side of things in the series. The species that were introduced either did business with the Dominion or were part of it, but we never have a specific sense of how *conquered* worlds were treated, particularly for the long-term.

The Dominion didn't hesitate to let Cardassia have it when the tide turned at the end, so extreme force would be a given, but long-term treatment is anybody's guess. Because Earth had resisted, you can be sure that it would be occupation and a police state for at least the short-term. In a symbolic manner, they might even make Earth their Alpha Quadrant headquarters. Symbolism goes a long way in propaganda and subjugation, although it can also became a rallying cry for resistance. Interesting to think about, though.

We saw the Dominion being fairly overbearing. The genetically engineered quickening virus, attempting to destroy a merchant ship just because he met with the Federation regarding trade practices with Quark, general fear of the Dominion expressed the Dominion races Quark met setting up trade negotiations. This was not a kinder and gentler overlordship just collecting their 2% and staying out of the way.

The bosses of the Dominion were reputed to have created the Vorta out of a preexisting species they found suited to their needs. Perhaps they would next convert humans into a servant species, too, having found us worthy adversaries or whatnot? With clever genetic manipulation and all, not just with "You there, serve me!", that is.

Then again, "worthy" might be a bad quality in a servant, even before the necessary modifications. But OTTH nobody from the Dominion sphere of influence ever considered humans worthy by any standard!

What i also wonder about is why the Changelings didn't replace Dukat sometime after the admission of the Cardassians into the Dominion. That way they could have governed Cardassia exactly like they wished without needing to make concessions to Dukat or later to Damar...

The Borg vs Dominion mission from Star Trek Armada is my favorite mission.

I seem to recall on the show, both Weyoun and the institutionalized augments both stated that Earth would be a major source of resistance in the event of the a Dominion victory. I think Dominion would occupy Earth with an eye for eventual extermination since humans would never completely submit, and the Dominion are all about the complete control.

The Founders would of been infected by that virus that affected their morphogenic matrixes. The Ketracel white supply would of dried up and the Vorta would engorge themselves on berries that they have no immunity to.Making a rebirth of the Federation. All of it engineered by Section 31.

...Yes, playing the long game has the inherent advantage that there are bound to be random moments where you can claim victory, while glossing over the fact that you lose most of the time.

The Dominion was big on moderated bioweapons in "The Quickening", and had made quite a habit out of controlled distribution of chemicals. I could well see them doing something similar on Earth.

"A reminder message from your friendly Dominion overlords: you have all been infected with a disease that, frankly put, is quite horrible in its early stages. I really don't want to describe the later stages. By reporting to your work detail every morning, you ensure your daily dose of antidote. Be advised that the antidote is only good for one day, and taking it on the wrong day will only aggravate the symptoms. Also, there are regional and other markers that I won't discuss in detail here. Suffice to say that attempts at hoarding, confiscation, unauthorized distribution or falsification of the antidote will not end well. Have another glorious day working for the Dominion!"

I can totally hear Jeffrey Combs delivering this...

Apparently the Dominion treats all of its members differently, even the ones it doesn't punish for trespasses.

While the Karemma are apparently able to govern themselves without many restrictions from the Founders and the Vorta and their society remains probably largely unchanged to how it might have been like before they became members of the Dominion, other cases like the Yaderans may be governed much more directly by them. Which may cause big cultural changes.
