What We Left Behind - Documentary Update Confirms *Some* HD Remastering

Some nice plugging by Ira and Nana Visitor on CBS.

Nice press for the documentary, but the interviewer is a bit of an idiot, particularly the comment about the show not worrying about canon.

The problem is poor reporting. The show was controversial at the time, but it had nothing to do with how canon was handled.

I think it was the Bajoran religion, it bothered both the religious people who saw in it a caricature of their own religion and the nonreligious people because it ruined in their minds the idea of a secular future.

And they had lots of non-Starfleet regulars. TOS didn't have any; TNG just had a couple of recurring non-Starfleet characters (I'm thinking Guinan and Q, were they significant recurring characters I'm missing?) But DS9 had more non-Starfleet characters than Starfleet. They looked at things differently and there was even conflict between them. This made better drama, but it was certainly different from TNG where conflict was involving guest stars.

TNG had Mrs. Troi and I guess Gowron and Mogh sort of count. Even Alexander and Keiko who aren't Starfleet.

Saw the Doc last weekend.
Tears of Joy for the glorious remastered HD footage
Great documentary, wonderful cast and still one of my fave shows ever!
Fingers crossed we'll get many hours of extra content on the BluRay ;) and a full HD remaster soon (despite the odds)

Excited to see 2/3 of the seats at my theater are booked for Monday's showing! Great also to hear about the excitement for this. KTLA is saying they've never had this much twitter activity on anything since they started their twitter account! DS9 fans are loud and proud! :)
